My first reaction was that Farage fled the scene of the crime.

what, you thought the government was going to invite him into the cabinet, or let him anywhere near the Brexit negotiations?

lol no

Like that's stopped his influence before. It's like he thinks this is the end where as from his position it should be just the beginning.

Or that's what he wants to you think, like with BHS, he's bailed and now putting some distance between him and the referendum.

Or maybe he was at it for nigh on twenty fucking years. It's what his party was created for, ya daft clud.

He's still an MEP and not going anywhere.
lol are you for real ?, so disband UKIP is the point you're getting at. 20 yrs is fuck all for a politician n all, the guy didn't know what to do next, he did a Boris and decided to let other people clean up the mess he created. If this was his plan it would never have taken this long to step down.

Seriously if he thinks his job is done then the guys more nuts than we imagined, this was the man with the plan for Britain that would help lead and shape its future. The party was meant to win seats n all, not lose them :olo:

I think the British MEP can just consider his Brussels visit a holiday from now on too. Seeing as he lost his seat in the last election aswell then just expect to see him hanging around news stations trying to be relevant, like Redknapp hanging out his car door.

Should also prolly remember he's quit twice before =/, to make himself look like he's fallen on his sword despite being the arse that instigated it. The guys a fucking tool that loved the soapbox that the UKIP leadership gave him. If he quit, then it was for self preservation, just like the other times.

Thats the problem with all these (right-wing) nutters. They can only point out what's bad but never come up with a viable alternative.

Uh hold on. Who called the referendum? Who was the head of the government? Who had no plan ready to go for each possible way the vote could have gone?

I don't get where this weird expectation has appeared from that the leave campaigners operated the referendum, or that anyone other than the incumbent government would need to be the ones holding detailed plans for progress in the event of either result.

I don't care for UKIP, Farage or Boris but what's being attributed to them here doesn't make sense. It lies squarely with the Prime 'why should I do the hard shit' Minister, who called the referendum in the first place, failed to have a contingency plan developed if the vote didn't go the way he wanted, and then ducked out on the entire country in the immediate aftermath. That's grossly negligent and I don't see how it sits with anyone else.

Wow, that's not how i see it at all.

Maybe you Brits do this politics thing a bit different - if the same thing happened here Farage/Boris would certainly be found responsible for events in the eyes of the publuic - and subsequently walking away would be utterly career destroying.

responsibility works a bit differently when you were on the side of the 52% victors. farage was never going to be involved on any level beyond what is an outstanding victory for UKIP, and boris's candidacy was untenable in any case

i think you're missing out some of the salient details here. there's certainly a case for cameron sticking around since it was his epic incompetence that brought this about in the first place, but then again: who wants a fucking idiot running the country?

You do know Boris wasn't expecting to win ?, the PM gave into those demands cos he couldn';t control his own party, thanks to people like Farage / Boris running him to the cliff edge and now here we are, 2 of the main instigaters for this shit storm drop plans and run away. Infact it was pledged during the election thanks to fear of UKIP stealing Tory votes so wether we like it or not, UKIP played a massive role in all of this.

And they should have plans otherwise you're gambling on the unknown and telling your electorate to do the same, it should be step 1 for the alternative. Chamberlain didn't keep his job because he had an after plan, it's cos his plan failed to those who had a better one.

It's true though, Boris and Farage were the 2 figureheads running this campaign (Gove is a nobody), they obviously had no plans, Farage will leave his party in disarray thanks to infighting about what to do next whilst he sits down claiming victory. Boris position became untenable because he changed his stance post referendum.

If his goal was to create an independent Britain n all, then that still hasn't happened yet.

If you wanted to be cynical, you could argue that they did this to further their political career and nobody expected to win.

Yup, and you know who wasn't expecting to lose. But when the one of those parties that gets caught without a plan is the prime minister, you can understand why that should rightfully be called into question as a serious failing. That position necessarily holds more responsibility to the public than any other.

Aye but I've already said why DC was correct to step aside. DC deserved to lose his postion and why Boris and co deserve to be hanged, this wasn't about Brexit it was about a power grab with DC losing and now we're all gonna be paying for it. The 2 main things I'm kicking DC for (in reguard to Brexit) is failing to control his own party and 'cowboy' politics by yielding to popularist demands - there's more but it kinda fits into those 2 categories. It was a constitutional decision n all, eventually DCs leadership would've become untenable anyway. DC knew this which is why all his money was in the 'remain' pot, he'd be getting the same treatment as Corbyn now for 'not doing enough' - probaly worse as Corbyns party was a reactionary action whilst DCs removal was planned beforehand, I mean Boris was pushed off a cliff before he could open his mouth despite being on the winning side :olo:

Even if his reaction was 'If you dumb fucks are stupid enough to side with someone that sounds like an exploding baby then you're welcome to him' then, fair play.

What I find funny is the mindset of Boris, his entire plan hinged on a close result but not a defeat, he literally went all in with a 50/50 chance after spending years positioning himself for a shot at the throne.
