You can cheat and add 8u steps with clip. Still looks a bit wonky though.

I also don't like 16u steps. They look too large and blocky. Lookin' good otherwise, Shadow.

Thanks, as I mentioned earlier, it's an old map, from times when I still did such big stairs :). And I don't really want to change it now.

I've always liked 10-12u stairs.

Yeah, I'm still part of the quake2world team, but at this point q2w is near enough to a proper release that there really isn't much left for me to work on. Basically, all we need is a a decent playermodel, ctf sounds, and some relatively minor code fixes/stabilization.

Speaking of which, if you're a character artist or musician/sound designer, http://www.quake2world.net/ :sly:

The monthly maps are out on lvl-world including 7(!) maps this time featuring sock's, dONKEY's, InsanKid's, Kell's, Mink's, NoVA's and elpibewer's works.
My personal favourite (waited a long time for this to come out): http://lvlworld.com/#c=m2&i=2083&d=27%2 ... =InsaneKid, great map, dONKEY!

Heh, that's very nice. Did you get the inspiration while checking maps with r_lightmap 1? Sometimes I felt tempted by those looks :)

You should make the RA area larger then. Many fights will take place there :)

Medieval Courtyard (a doodle map only)
[lvlshot]http://www.simonoc.com/images/design/maps_q3/mcourt1l.jpg[/lvlshot]
There are plenty more screenshots on my website if you are interested in seeing other angles. The images are designed to be darkish and moody and could appear too dark for some people. I tested them with several friends and this was the most popular brightness setting. If you have any favourite images or feedback on screenshot brightness levels, please let me know. The map is just a visual doodle with absolutely no gameplay ... screenshots only!

These shadows on the floor are nice. I looked at the other screenshots on your site before I read your full post and first thing I thought was "it is too dark". I know the map's theme is "darkish and moody" as you said but I think there should be at least some more light sources.
Maybe it is just me..:) Still looking awesome.

@cityy, yep the lighting is very hit or miss. I have 3 monitors at home and it looks amazing on 2 and completely black rubbish on the 3rd. Some people are going to love it for mood and lighting, others will just think it is too dark and I am crazy! :P I spent a while trying out different light styles and this one got the most votes of 'wow, nice and moody'. If enough people request it I can do a special lighter set.

Them be some nice textures, Sock. I checked out all the other screens of course. I had at least five "Is that Quake?" moments. Turn it into a real map, you know you want to. :p
