Oh, I understand that. But I'd rather get something closer to what I want rather than going through the cost and hassle of tearing the bike apart to powder coat.

If I was getting a Harley it'd be a 48. The sound those make is so fun. I rode a few of them last year on a test run, one of them being a 48. Felt so weird coming from sports bikes and dirt bikes.

If anything in that style, I'd go for the Bobber

Yeah the 48 has a very bobberish style. The sound that engine makes though is something special, not for everyone but it sounds like a bag of nuts and bolts being tossed around. One of those things that sound terrible at first but grows on you after a quick ride. It'd be terrible on any kind of long run but if you're cruising through town to go to a pub it's perfect.

I really like the look of the 48 and other 883/1200s. But they are all just too small.

Haven't been on a dirt bike in many years. They were always a lot of fun.

Nothing wrong with that. That's partly why I chose mine. I don't want one all chromed out, or all black. I prefer a mix of the two. At some point I may repaint the tins to something other than black, but that's down the road. The styling was my main attraction, which I'm sure was the same with your Fatboy. The only things I really needed to change was the handlebar height and mirrors. Aftermarket mirrors and spacers on the bars and I'm all good, although I may opt for mini apes at some point.

Although not really my style, I have to agree, way too small.

I did a 300+ mile round trip ride yesterday to Daytona Beach (last day of bike week). The new seat worked out great. Truly a night and a day difference, and worth every penny.
A few pic from Destination Daytona...

Meh... It's probably just a slow buildup to that. I didn't start off scraping the pegs on the ground but built up to it and when I do it now it doesn't scare me to go that low. Nowadays I pull the peg up with my foot to avoid scraping and go lower.

The bug bit and I just bought another 'set' heavily discounted from Toys 'R' Us after buying some extra straight track pieces and four points/switches to complement the first set. It's the LEGO City Cargo Train 60052.

My washer died last Saturday (got 15 years out of it), which forced us to buy new units (god forbid they don't match).

Not really what I had in mind when thinking about spending that money.

What's the bottom drawer on the left hand unit? It is washer on the left and dryer on the right isn't it?

Washer left, dryer right. The bottom drawer on the left is a light material washing machine separate from the main unit. We didn't get that. We just got the pedestals with the storage drawers.

Note to self: Must set up the Lego trains again.

Nice hardware Gramps. It always sucks when something as mundane as a washer or dryer or oven or fridge dies. You always feel you'd have better ways to spend the money.
My bank allows us to define multiple sub-accounts under your main saving account. Not sure how common this is, they started this relatively recent. We just monthly dump a small amount of money in a sub-accounts specifically meant for replacing the stuff we take for granted. It softens the blow a little when I actually have to spend it.

Get idea that sub accounts thing
We are thinking of doing the same for the lesser part of our health insurance costs as it just might work for us on the 'extras' portion that offersdental, physio, optometry and the like. They only refund like 10 to 20% of the service cost at best.
Insurance is a necessary evil as far as I am concerned and we've been lucky to date. Paying premiums no end

so better it go in the bank.. $117 a month will add up quickly like a Christmas Club account.

The wife and I have separate accounts and split the bills based on our income which leaves us with plenty of money for things like this. Instead of a second account I simply run an significant overage at all times. But smart play on the second account. I can see how that would help you keep your family out of financial binds.
