why is this shit an academy award winner? because it's subbed?
why is it that any fucking movie outside of hollywood gets to write about such a tired idea yet get such graze for it?

I think it's time for me to produce my own masterpiece and sub it... matter of fact I wont even bother to do it in another language, as long as I sub it I'm golden

Rob Zombie's Halloween - 7.5/10

Great, as seasonal horror flicks go. I love the touch he put on it, making Myers actually seem a little real and believable. And of course a few gratuitous tit shots and some Zombie-style dark humor.

And that fucker who played Myers is a giant. 6'8", he's a fucking mutant already. Seen him in other stuff of course, just never realized he was so huge.

The dude who played the psychologist was a horrible fucking actor though.

Oh, also watched Oldboy last week - the Korean flick.

I can't recommend this to anyone in good conscience. It's definitely interesting, but by the end you feel like your sensibility has been repeatedly slapped in the face by a rubber welcome mat. If it weren't for the final 5 minutes I would probably like it more.

But even so, the parting impression you get is that of the protagonist losing in nearly every imaginable way, after already being abused throughout the whole movie. It's depressing.

The Number 23 - 8/10

Friend of mine came over and suggested we watch it. I hadn't seen it before and had it in the back of my mind in my "to-do list" and never got to it. But my god, what a riveting and powerful psychological thriller it turned out to be, complete with insane and unexpected plot twists. I can definitely watch this movie a few more times and still enjoy it. Amazing acting by Jim Carrey who despite what others may say, is an extremely versatile actor. And Rhona Mitra is still pretty hot

Yeah but it's such a fun movie. Try watching it and rooting for Woo-Jin now that you already know what's going on.

For a korean movie I think you'll really enjoy, look for "A bittersweet life". It's a great gangster/action/drama.

The Bourne Supremacy - 7/10

Solid spy thriller. Ending could have been a bit more climactic though, but sure, they managed to tie things up nicely while still leaving room for another sequel.

Yea, it wasn't all bad, just the ending left me with mixed feelings. Funny, but for a brief moment in it I really was rooting for Woo-Jin. Moral of the story: maybe you shouldn't be such a fucking gossip, eh? That'll teach you. lol

Thx for the recommendation, I'll check it out.

Wow. I would say that The Number 23 was one of the top 3 worst movies I've seen all year.

My wife watched it with a friend and told me it was absolute shit. We both like Jim Carey, but she said he didn't even come close to pulling off the 'dark, mysterious, and sexy' role.

The "twist" in the movie was just so terribly ham-fisted all I could do was laugh. Also, your wife was completely right, Jim Carrey absolutely sucked in the movie. Its almost like he has to try to be mildly funny in everything he does, which was a horrible fit for this movie.
Also the director periodically just included a shot of this random dog for some reason.

I thought Carrey was good in two films: Man on the Moon and Me myself and Irene. Everything else i've seen with Carrey was pretty much unwatchable garbage.

Also:

The Bourne Identity 8/10
The whole Bourne hype has caused the two earlier films to come out in a cheap bundle so i got that. Part one was better than i imagined, sort of good even. I especially enjoyed the ambassy scene. Solid spy stuff.

The Bourne Whatever 3/10
What the fuck? It's as if someone suddenly thought a storyline was a luxury they could do without and the best way to capture an action scene is to get a lot of close ups and shake the camera like a goddamn bunch of retards. It's been two days ago since i watched this and i can't remember a thing about it.

EDIT: lowered the score for part two.

I thought The Truman Show was excellent, because Carey's comedic tendencies blended well with the role. Me, Myself, and Irene is a signature role for him, physical comedy is his forte. Like Steven Seagal and his ability to play nothing but Italian cops, Carey is best suited for slapstick, ala Ace Ventura.
He did a fair job in Doing Time On Maple Drive, which was a drama.
