Actualy you know what? I'm not sure what's worse. The fact someone would buy that game or the fact someone would buy that game then go on a quake 3 messageboard to talk about having bought that game...

looks like Soapboy and I are about the only ones who are comfortable enough with our masculinity to enjoy a game like Nintendogs :olo: Looks like the rest of yous is still afraid of being called gay. I'd say it's denial :olo:

Oh I dunno. Considering the sheepish herding behaviour of many people I often find the opposite is true.

Well no offense guys but you two are pretty much the worst nintendo fanboys on this message board so if I'm going to take a game critique seriously for a nintendo game based on dogs... Well... I gotta concider the source right?

You got me...I don't play with virtual puppies because I'm uncomfortable with my masculinity. It has nothing to do with the fact that they're virtual puppies.

Edit: Much less buy the game to do so.

Many kids games get good reviews because they review them keeping in mind the game is meant for kids, perhaps to a 5 year old the game is gold but that doesn't neccessarily mean it's gonna be catered to an adult audience.

or it could just be that everyone else thinks it looks shit. by your logic, one could be comfortable enough with one's masculinity to fuck a guy in the arse. no thanks

so would you play a game where you roll a ball of glue around or is that too unmasculine for you as well?

Nintendogs is not exclusively ment for kids. That's wrong assumption number one.
Also, Nintendogs shouldn't be seen as a game. There's also far more to it than stroking a touch screen with your stylus. It's by far one of the most original applications on gaming consoles I've ever seen. I don't see why you would straight out bash Nintendogs. saying it "looks shit" completely misses the point. Sure, one might not be interested in having a virtual puppy simulator, but if that's not your thing, I respect that. I never found myself attracted to Halo either.

Once you've had some time with Nintendogs, it's hard to deny that Nintendo hit the nail on the head with Nintendogs. It's an application that goes will with all age categories, doesn't require extensive gaming knowledge nor experience and speaks to the warm, caring side of people through it's cute puppy interface. When it comes down to it everyone adores young puppies (except those that feed them to sharks maybe)

I bet that if they replaced the puppies with roaring monsters that would eat children for lunch with blood spatters flying all over the place, a lot less people here would talk shit about it. That does matter, as in the end, it's the technology and implementation of it's internal mechanics under the hood that drive the game.

Wheter you feel puppies are for girls and young children or not, there's a whole world to be discovered in there. The way the dogs respond to various types of input is simply amazing. The level of realism is incredible.

One might (even including myself) get bored of the whole thing pretty quickly, I don't know, but I got myself a copy of Nintendogs because I found the idea behind it actually very intruiging. It's this kind of think-outside-of-the-box gaming that triggers my interest. I've played enough Dooms for now.

The critics might want to read this article. Even if you're absolutely not interested in Nintendogs, it's still an interesting article to read about game design and game mechanics:
