Call American religious values stupid if you want, I don't care for them personally, but understand those values developed out of the total fuckwad of culture that developed out of one, specific culture, namely:

European Catholic Society. Learn your own history you fags.

And thanks all - for the Holy Roman Empire, and later the Vatican.

Thanks for the Crusades you fuckwads.

Thanks for the Inquisition you tards.

And lastly, thanks for fumbling the ball so spectacularly at the end of Europe's Age of Imperialism.

Which left us ( U.S. ) the only ones around to try and fail to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

Canada can say something about something when it actually DOES something about anything.

The rest of the world can speak for itself, I don't know enough of its story.

Don't be a dumbass. Decisions made hundreds of years ago don't necessarily determine what a country is like in present day. As far as religion goes, the UK is smarter than the US. You, sir, have your head up your ass.

Cultural values have a long reach, in time as well as distance.

Why the hell else do people still know who Jesus is, worldwide, regardless of whatever the truth about his life may be?

"As far as religion goes, the UK is smarter than the US" - now that is a good, solid comeback. lol.

The US doesn't look remotely like it did 200 years ago. When was the last time you saw a witch burned at the stake?

Witches have no more to do with this conversation than Jesus.. if religious values have no significance:

then why are talking about either of them when we are supposedly "free" of both of them, and live in the "modern world"?

The past exists, like it or not, as history and memory. That is the only point I'm trying to make. So I was rude at first, sue me.

You know religion has been around since man first walked upright, don't you? I doubt cavemen were brainwashed.

The crusades are not as black and white of an issue as many think.

Atrocities took place, no doubt, but I find a lot of folks don't know much of the history behind why they started...

Smarter how? These things are not issues where you can just say one country is 'better' or 'smarter' with broad strokes.

Europe has PLENTY of its own problems. It's just always more fun to point out the ones in the US.

I blame Canada.

As for religion since men walked upright...not quite.

But we could begin that whole "what makes one morality superior to another" discussion again.

The whole story of Adam and Eve is a huge contradiction anyways. Adam and Eve were 2 people, so how are there multiple races, with many obvious physical differences between them? So, if Adam and Eve were the source of the human race, then their children would have had to evolve into the races we know today.

Ok let me spell it out for you then. Mankind, since it's basicly existed as we exist now has simply made up reasons for why things are the way they are even when they have no evidence of anything at all. It's what we do. So when we didn't know the world was round we simply assumed it was flat. And that god made it. It's all assumptions based on questions which in some cases might actualy be unawnserable. So to state that because cavement beleived it must be true! Is utter fucking retardedness.

and that puts them on about the same level of understanding of this universe as you...so what's your point?

Although the flaws in the idea of Adam and Eve starting the entire human race are many, the argument you just put forth isn't a very strong one at all.

The races we see all did evolve from common ancestors, by the way.

by the way...it's sad to see the posts trying to point out the ridiculousness in the literal following of the Bible as scientific history (and it is pretty ridiculous in that aspect) being based in almost as much ignorance as the position they are trying to make fun of.
