When I received this email I was prepared for something ridiculous, retarded and religious bullshit because that's the kind of email that she sends my girlfriend all the time. She's never sent me stuff before because my girlfriend never gave her my email address because of these retarded emails, but she's got it now because I had to send her something.

So anyways, I open it and start skimming and I see that this is supposed to be quoting Andy Rooney and that he's saying some of the most ridiculously ignorant and racist things I've ever heard. I don't buy a word of it and I do a little research and of course find that it's fake:

I emailed her back saying the following:

It looked much too abrasive for Andy Rooney and I did a little research on it.

That's not exactly what I would have prefered to have said, but I had to utilize some diplomacy since she's probably my future mother in-law. My girlfriend is not at all like her mother and she's actually repeatedly told her mom to stop sending her these stupid fucking chain emails.

Look at it this way. You want freedom of speech. Libel and slander laws aside, you now want that freedom to conform to certain guidelines. Now it's not really a constitutional freedom, but bureaucratic a policy. If you wonder how things like the Patriot Act get passed and renewed, THAT'S HOW.

Now think long and hard about exactly what concepts of "majority" and "minority" are. They're much more than simple, "natural" percentages, it's about imagined differences solidified by policy. Nationalist, governmental or cultural policies that determine it's socially acceptable for one group to do x and another to do y or not to do x don't take steps towards dismantling divisions, but usually reinforce them. Minority has never been about numbers, but about power and the construction, hierarchy and exploitation of difference.
