why would you lol at the price?
a, the sub $400.00 monitor does not carry a 3 year warrantee
b, they will be over $400 in a week or so.
c, I don't want to sell it for less
d, the longer dell keeps the price below $400 the long I will continue to use it.
then there is also the factor that most people do not know the deals and will pay through the ass for it and I kave no problem selling it to them since these are the same people who think it's Okay to call me on a sunday morning and ask me for computer help when I don't even consider them friends...
Gotta love them DELL deals
Not the point dave.. hes arguing that the warenty is worth it.. when clearly its not..Dave wrote:And a brand new refurbished monitor when it breaks... that's awesome, thanks DellSOAPboy wrote:Um.. for 60 bucks you get 5 years..Giraffe }{unter wrote:

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.
It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.
I am now sick.

thanks, that's along the lines of what I was after. 37" is the largest I've found in a flatpanel, but I'll keep searching.mjrpes wrote:Plasma's have much greater chance of burn-in, although recent technology have helped a bit. don't buy a plamsa if your going to be hooking it up to your computer and running apps.
plasma arguably have richer colors, although that point is debatable.
plasma's supposedly lose screen brightness over time.
large LCD's are not common right now but that is changing.
plasmas are limited to 720i resolution IIRC, while 1080i resolution exists in large LCD. looks at the specs when you are buying.
plasmas use more energy.
hopefully others can chime in.

The sad part is that you are still going on about this when I will still get over $400.00 for this gauranteed. Remember most people are not up on deals and when they see 20" flatpanel for 400.00 they jump on it. that's just the way it is.SOAPboy wrote:

Just like I got more than what I paid for both my 1704s used

Not sure I just checked for a responce time in my Plasma manual and there was none. I don't believe that is a spec for plasma displays.
I can tell you even when playing fast paced games like Burnout Revence on my plasma, I see no signs of ghosting and the picture quality is far better than my LCD display.

Yeah, I'm getting similar feedback everywhere I turn, as well, and by that I mean a blank stare instead if feedback. Lots of local vendors have no idea what resolution means, as well and I've even had some yokels tell me there's no way to connect a PC to a plasma.
I don't know wow long the dvi-to-hdmi adapter has been on the market but I would think longer than some of these pencil-necks have been legally allowed to work.
I like the richness and anti-aliased-aspect of a plasma, but I'm hearing bad things about the lifetime.
appreciate the info.

It all depends on what you get, I got a deal through work on a commercial plasma. The halflife of my screen is 60,000 hours most are 20,000 to 30,000.
It gets pretty hot, but the picture is clear bright and crisp, with a verry wide viewing angle. I had my media center PC hooked up to it until last week when I got my High Def cable box.
Your best bet is to look online and do all the research on your own. Most knowledgable sales people will tell you what they need to sway your decision to what they need to get rid of.

I'm considering picking up the Dell 23" W2306C LCD TV later on down the road. Hopefully by the time I want to get it, the price will drop from the $800 it's at now.
I'm a bit curious about exactly what HDTV-Ready means, though. I know I need a separate tuner to watch HD channels, but without a tuner would I be able to watch DVDs or play 360/PS3 in HD? My guess is no.

HD ready means bring your own HD device, pretty much. Ie cable box, DVD player XBOX etc.
if it's HD the TV is ready FYI thay 23" screen looks pretty sweet. I stopped by the Dell Kiosk today because those idiots finally figured out how to Full screen the PC ouput onto the 50" plasma they have I was impressed with the ATI demo...
anyway I checked out that LCD for a few seconds as a possible bedroom TV. but i assumed the wife would injure me if I brought home another expensive item this month
