Man that's true. I just love that strogg base feel to it and the q2 strogg war battle sounds that all add to the ambience of the map.

You haven't played Quake. :p I'll never understand all those people that insist on always playing the same maps that they know through and through, just in order to polish their skills a little bit. They just don't don't realize on how much fun they're missing out. :o
it just depends on what maps were popular when. when's the last time hubtourney was played in a tournament?

With some repeats:

MonoLith
Shakedown (rdogdm2)
Trial by Error (rpg3dm2)
Gloom (storm3tourney1)
Out on a Limb (tig_out) again
Coitus Interuptus (69 Pickup1)
Golconda (bal3dm2)

Great thread. Where do folks find the most complete source of maps. LvL??

I pretty much guess so. LvL is about the best one out there these days. I sometimes use Rail And Rebels as a backup if I can't find something I'm looking for at LvL.

Gonna take a look at....

MonoLith
Shakedown (rdogdm2)
Trial by Error (rpg3dm2)

Not sure I've seen those, at the names don't ring any bells.

Fora.

EDIT:-

MonoLith - Couldn't find it ... you don't happen to mean the RA3 map do you ?
Shakedown (rdogdm2) - Great map ... makes for a fine TDM / FFA map.
Trial by Error (rpg3dm2) - Not bad ...certainly better than a lot I've seen ... have my reservations on if it's a keeper though.

:icon25: Cool map,the textures remind me of h2s04.

any more maps with those tech textures that are really cool to play?

I don't like it, too tight for a decent game.

Tight it certainly is ... I will say this .... it's very dark in lightmap mode which is a shame, as these days I like maps that look as good as they play.....I'm getting long in the tooth :p .... anyways of the 4 actual pl maps I'd go .... 4,2,1,3 in order of personal preference .... just a shame that the bot play on all of the maps is pretty poor.

I'm with you on looks. Picmip 0 and the full works is wonderful, and it doesn't impact the game as long as there's brightskins.

We're playing a lot of PLDuel 3 here - The layout is really unique. PLDuel 2 is weaker - Too rail oriented and although the architecture is well done, it's quite bland colourwise.

4 is very well done visually but weaker on gameplay. The RA area is too strong and overall the map's a bit too small to get away with that imbalance.
