I saw The Casualties live with Agnostic Front and TSOL in a small venue (was only $10) a few years ago. Still the most violent show I've ever been to and couldn't understand one fucking word coming out of the guy's mouth. Their hair defied physics though, but I was too busy trying not to get an elbow or fist to the face to pay much attention to the band.

BTW, the venue was/is the Pheonix Theatre in Petaluma, California. It's notoriusly violent and cheap. But the atmosphere is awesome. There's no pussy barriers or bouncers and often times you get guys up on stage with the band singing right along with them.

Lol, I recently found out about the Casualties. I really like them though. You can understand them if you pay attention but how will you do that in a mosh? did you mosh though? I'd get killed in one lol.

There's not like a "mosh area" or circle like most venues. Like I said, the theatre I go to doesn't have bouncers or barricades. The whole floor is pretty violent save for the back area that has ramps on the floor for skateboarders. The only real way to avoid getting fucked up is sitting on the top of one the ramps, but that's usually reserved for girls and even then you can get some drunk guy losing control of his skateboard and getting a skateboard to your forehead or something.
You just have to man up and make sure you don't get hit the face on the floor. Body shots in general aren't hard enough to do any real damage - just a few bruises the next day and I'm by no means a big guy (5'9-5'10 and 150 lbs).

It does have its ups though. For one thing we don't get those 100 lb scene guys that dress like girls and most of the punks will beat up on the skin heads. And for being a small venue, the scene is good enough that we still get big bands playing for cheap.

I haven't been to the theatre since I've moved to Vegas, but I used to go pretty often and I doubt its changed.

I saw The Casualties during their unity tour in Feb of 2001. I was just a young kid - 14 years old and the place scared the hell out of me.

Edit: I've heard the AFI song "Days of the Phoenix" is about the Phoenix Theatre - the one I've been talking about, but I'm not an AFI fan at all and it may just be a rumor started by some local kids.

Edit2: Nevermind, google says that rumor is correct. - http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=3679
