Oh please.

This is just like in my other thread bashing the USA's legalization of torture...stop doing knee-jerk posts to people who question your government and actually think before typing.

How can a country with 20 million people have similar issues or be similar to a country with 295 million, except in the most basic way?

The population density for England, as a for instance, can not compare to the population density for the US for one reason...The US is loaded with hundreds of miles of land that is uninhabitable. You can hardly count vast expances of the Nevada desert or large portions of New Mexico as "habitable" and include it in a population density analysis. If you take the same amount of people, and put them in the same square milage, you're going to start to see similar problems and behaviors depending on availablity of natural resources. I don't care what country you're from. THAT is what I'm saying.

You can throw words around like patriotic and ignorant all you want to to dismiss my point of view, but I'm not the one grasping at anecdotal evidence and media news stories so I can feel better about where I live, or superior to the entire population of a country I've never lived in, or, possibly never even set foot in.

Truthfully, I like seeing news accounts of what the US does in other countries. I get to find out shit the US does that is wrong that our own media doesn't have the balls, or is not allowed, to admit....not that I wholesale believe every negative thing that is printed in other countries about the US. I "try" to determine as best as possible what factually happened based on what I hear from as many sources as possible. It's my belief the truth ends up being somewhere in the mix.

Whinging about how its not exclusive to America and how anyone pointing out all the dumb shit going on in America is just a hater is just a means of ignoring the actual issue.

I wholeheartedly agree with this....but this doesn't change the fact that you wished I could be waterboarded over the internet for mentioning the fact that America legalized waterboarding.

...unless you were joking. But that wasn't apparent.

I've objected to what I consider over-generalizations. For instance: Whites are better than blacks because blacks are amoral monkies that don't know how to use birth control; Canadians are better than Americans, hell every country is better than America, because Americans are psychotic barbarians with a god complex that try to mind everyone else's business; if you say anything about Mohammed to a muslim, you're gonna get jihad'ed; etc.

If I came in here and started telling you guys how to drive, and what was wrong with your choice of vehicle, and you found out the only thing I had ever owned was a golf cart...you'd object. To me, it's the same thing. You hear some news accounts...usually only the bad shit...and all of a sudden, America is land of the shit hole.

LOL! Come on. Of course I was joking. Sorry it wasn't apparent. I actually like you, not that I'm ever going to admit it. Fag.

If you think this is sudden and over 'some news accounts', you're living in fucking la-la land missus.

No Foo, over the years I've noticed pretty much continuous, intense scrutiny and alot of hostility about pretty much everything reported in the media regarding the US.

There's shit that's happened in the US that I found out about first on this message board, or the bbc news over the internet. And I live here.

I feel like the world wants me to be accountable for shit that happens thousands of miles away, concerning people I've never met or seen before, because we happen to both be "US citizens". While I do need to be concerned about my country, I don't think I need to explain every nut job that shoots people down.

Im not saying other places dont have problems, just that killings of this nature are not seen as a routine - outside usa.
Or... the US is one of the few countries of such a large populous that allows free press and believes it beneficial to share information sometimes even at the detriment of it's own reputation?

LOL at people who bash the US in general.
If China ever becomes the dominant world power, you stupid fucking pricks will choke on the fucking humility. Only no one will probably know it. Communication bridges such as this place surely wouldn't exist.

it's Britain, not England. England is to Britain what Massachusetts is to the US. why do americans have such a hard time grasping this simple fact?

point still stands, people who whine about how bad it is without putting forth a feasible alternative are nothing more than whining shitbags. :p

Who are these people?

When we're talking about things like (for example) detainee torture, the feasible alternative is.... not torturing detainees. Duh. We don't need to bring Norway into this.
