dems are going to win the house it appears...but allen will win and keep the republicans in control of the senate...will be interesting to see if there are any prosecutions for voter fraud after allen's supporters called a dems and told them their polling places had been moved.

It looks like democrats are winning both the house and senate according to CNN.com predictions.

They will hold a majority in the house and the senate will remain balanced.

And it looks like The Terminator will still be Californias governor, by a decent margin.

What is with California and voting for republican governors and democrat presidents.

Looks like the abortion proposition passed in Cali, girls can no longer recieve abortions until their parents are notified.

Time for girls to start falling down stairs and using coat hangers again imho.

I'm pro-choice in most circumstances, although I don't really like abortions as a form of birth control after the fact because someone couldn't keep their pants on. That being the case, I don't see the big deal about requiring parent notification for minors to get an abortion. FFS, minors pretty much need a parent with them to sign off on anything, major surgery, etc. I don't see the HUGE deal about requiring doctors to make kids under 18 notify their parents about abortions.

The coat hanger argument is a big stretch in the case of this specific piece of legislation.

it's amazing how close that race is. 2.3 million votes cast and they are less than 3 thousand votes apart.

It's too bad voting leads to jury duty. I would have voted otherwise.

I agree with you, this piece of legislation is a lot better than the last time it came around where it required parental consent, this just requires parental notification.

Doesn't sound too outrageous does it, but I question whether parents ought to have the right to force their child to carry a pregnancy to term. If the fetus could be removed from the child and incubated in an artificial womb then I would seriously reconsider that position (probably in favor of compulsory parental consent up to age 17 or so, only if they agreed to the artificial womb condition should the minor object).

No, Ford lost. Unfortunately as it turns out, since at this point it looks like the GOP has 49 Senate seats and Dems have 48.

I don't know what you've read about him but I haven't read it. I have read plenty about his other family members, just not much about Ford himself.

Pretty shitty that I felt I had to vote for a guy I knew next to nothing about. Just love that 2-party system.


At any rate, looks like there are still 3 Senate seats up for grabs. Here's hoping the Dems can take two of them, but I have my doubts.

And my fellow citizens voted by an overwhelming majority to amend the state constitution to limit marriage to heterosexual relationships. Fucking bible belt. The really sad part is, that could very well be the only reason some people even voted. :icon27:

webb is ahead, but by a margin small enough to entitle Allen to an automatic recount. and that seat will break the tie in the senate (so expect court battles)
