Don't get me wrong, I say it all the time too. Just struck my funny bone.dmmh wrote:i like to say it tbhscourge34 wrote:I know what it is. It's just a contraction for you all. It's just that it's heavily associated with the southern US. Found it kind of funny with all the redneck bashing that goes on around here.SplishSplash wrote: There is no plural for the word "you" in english. Therefore many people use "y'all" to make their statements more precise. I use "y'all" quite often, because not having a way to say "you(plural)" is really annoying.

It's an explanation you tool, why not get onto the Oxford Dictionary people and ask them to amend the language?SplishSplash wrote:And this technicality helps our discussion how?mik0rs wrote:It's not you silly bear, it's just used in both cases.
It's hardly a pressing matter, most people with a brain will know when a singular or a plural is implied.

that excludes goof then
And shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee, Power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command, we shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine patris, et fili, et spiritus sancti.

Course it's an explanation, it can be used in both cases, that's an explanation of the use of the word "you", there's no more to fucking explain. You've also got the other options which I also showed you, there's nothing more to it. Like I said, the dictionary people are the ones to talk to if you're that concerned.SplishSplash wrote:It's not an explanation, it's a useless act of smartassery and didn't contribute anything to our discussion.mik0rs wrote: It's an explanation you tool
Here's some advice: Think first, post later.
It's that's "smartassery" then all you're displaying is fuckwittery, and in your case I'll offer the advice: think first, then don't bother posting.

Men, I was curious about this ban topic having a + 60 replies in such a short laps of time. As I read it I noticed that most of the replies were for the English YOU plurial/singular comments.
We, french Canadian use tu and vous, well you knew that.
The thing is, being grown from a respective Catholic family.
My parents thought us ''politeness'' and respect, so we use
vous when we talk to my parents or any older person than us
or stranger. I always wondered what that simple vous thing
can make a difference in relationship in English. You don't use ''THOU'' shall...as in God Commandments...
