You could probably do fine with hardwood, as long as it wasn't pre-finished.

If you got real wood, try to salvage it. My upstairs floor was pretty bad (see below)

3 down 20 to go :dork:

There are 2 side by side in this location I have a separate newly run line for my PC stuff only. The rest I am rewiring, grounding, re-plastering. The first one was the worst, I had to rebuild 3" of plaster...

Why didn't you mount the receptacles at the same height?

This is true. Also moving a socket a little is really no big deal. :)

It's a bigger deal when your walls are wood lathe and plaster ;) Once my desk and book shelves are in place you will never see it.

:olo: As I sit here in Canada my wife is back home paining :) I got off easy.

Now if only the hotel cable could hold out long enough for me to watch HEROS!!!!

I felt like mounting the Plasma today only took 3 hours 8|

All the pics here > http://www.giraffe-hunter.com/gallery/2007/07-02_New_House/Week_6/index.html

The hardest part was finding the stud centers then realizing they were 4" off from where I needed them. I had to mount the mount 1 inch off center, then mount the Plasma to the mount 3/4" off center in the other direction. when all was said and done it worked out great :)

Highlights below

Now I just need to paint the room and ceiling, Build my Mantle (pictured below) Around the TV. The wiring will be installed into the mantle so it will not be visible, but that's another project for another day...

In an area where 1 bedroom houses with outside bathrooms go for 1/2 mil it's tough to buy a house in pristine condition. We bought into this area for the town, school system and neighborhood. We bought this house for the style. It looked pretty beat up when we got her, but it's coming along.

Living in an apartment for 7 years builds up allot of "I want to renovate something" aggression. I now have my projects, daily if I want and my wife happily helps out with every one of them.

I like my peasant looking hole sir...

Going into week 12 and this one of those hard core house weekends. We started Friday night and worked straight through till Saturday night. My favorite 2 rooms in the house are FINALLY finished.

There's something about making a project like this your own through sweat, burned downtime and violent swears that engenders an implied aspect somewhat like that of satisfaction in the room itself.

Great way to sum up the weekend. I'm only voilently swearing when I have to do electrical in the house. Previous owner's electrician was a moran. Simple things like changing a light fixture turn into 4 hour quests.

My wife is having me replace all the outlets switches and wall plates due to the previous owners paining over them. You can imagine how many times I break into a cursing fit in each room :0

but yes when it's done it feels fucking good :icon30:
