oh sry...yeah it goes on C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\ then i drag it onto my desktop (im talking about the game not the patch)

Make sure the game itself is installed to a folder called 'quake 3 arena', say, in your program files as said above, and install the 1.32 patch to that same folder when it asks you for a destination directory to install it to, just to be sure. Perhaps just uninstall everything including the 1.32 patch and start again if you need to.

Er...why?
Just create a shortcut to quake 3 by right clicking, dragging somewhere in the folder, release the mouse button and selecting 'create shortcut here'. Then move it to the desktop.

Another way to create a shortcut after it's installed, is to right click on the 'play quake 3 arena' in your start menu/send to/ Desktop(create shortcut ). At least, that's true for windows XP.

I hear from bikkeldesnikkel that when medalist installed the game , it defaulted to a folder called 'quake "3" arena', but the 1.32 patch defaulted to a different folder called 'quake "lll" arena' . So, neither the game nor the patch were connecting with each other. :icon28:
