sorry to bust your bubble but i have always been a great runner and have got pretty close to a 15 minute 5K when i was younger and now im in the prime of my life determined to see how fit i can get before the best years are behind me
however im more into strength and body building since ive been there done that with track running already but if i wanted to im 100% sure i could train again as a distance runner and hit a 15 minute 5k
heck now that i think about it i might see how fast my 5K is right now before i bulk up too much
besides my lifting run everyday alternating between a 30 minute jog and a 20minute interval session where i run a 400m as fast as possible 6-8 times jogging in between

I ran one year on the XC team in HS, at that time we were the #1 ranked school in the nation. (not due to me in any way, shape, or form.)

After that 1 year I realized I hated XC. Actually during that year. Actually about 1 minute after I showed up the first day of practice.

My coach was Steve Prefontaine's college roommate. Some of the guys on that team ended up in the movie about that guy. Prefontaine is some famous XC runner that I had never heard of until I did XC.

Back to the point, the ironic thing was the XC runners I knew that were really good runners were some of the unhealthiest bastards I'd ever met. Complete skin and bones, ate a steady died of skittles and mountain dew. Looked like they just stumbled out of Auschwitz to welcome the American liberators.

This reminds me of a few meets I worked in college...if we had a late Sat or Fri game, they lined up a few us football folk near the end of the route to make sure the runners stayed on course till the end. There were always 2-3 people who were stumbling, barfing or shitting their racing shorts as they crossed the finish line. Just another day at the office for the XC folks. :olo:

thats not even fast enough to win a high school track meet

right now i run for heart rate and overall time but im sure i can still hit a 15 minute 5K if i work at it

but maybe im just naturally awesome unlike yall homos i even still have my natural 6 pack since i was like 13 without even trying
so you have had a 6-pack for almost a year now, wow we're so impressed :icon29:

I still want to know how stu got roid rage from anti-inflammatory corticos..

:paranoid: I am worried about that guy and a possible underlying issue. All that bottled up anger and the red hair to boot. He could be a ticking time bomb of death waiting to rain down upon the northwestern oregon area.

Give me your WRX before you flip out though Stu. I need 2.

Wow some fast fuckers in here. Any early season races yet, boys? Just ran a 5-miler at ~8 min / mile pace. Yes, i'm slow but the fact that I can run again after injury makes my ego get a chubby.

old threads ftmfw

This saturday i'm running a 5k, we'll see what happens. last monday i did a practice 5k and ran 21m01s, I was going somewhat hard but i can push quite harder and will saturday... maybe a sub 20, who knows for sure. It's easier to run when 100's other are too.

I'll try for a 1 mile time all out someday.

My split for the 1st mile on saturday morning was 5:45, two mile split was 12:12, and i'm not sure of the official final time but I think it was below 19:40 for the 5k. The official results haven't been posted yet.

It's quite possibly the oldest human 'sport' and a key part of our evolutionary path to becoming the dominant species on Earth. I prefer a bicycle but it's nothing to laugh at.

I find running boring as shit. Cycling owns it in every way conceivable.
Thick, solid and tight in all the right places.
