for SP its hard to be q1.

I always felt the Q1 atmosphere was pretty rad - tech and gothic maps intermixed - but that the AI sucked, even for those days. I completed episode one on Hard only a couple of days after it was released. No inter-toughness, it just wasn't that hard. I didn't discover Nightmare until later.

yeah, its more about the atmosphere than the AI difficulty.
most of the fun came from trying to beat the maps as fast as possible.
"quake done quick" was endless fun.

I think q2 mp is free. Just get the trial, and install the latest patch. Then grab r1q2, and OSP which comes with gladiator bot.

I'm down. I know I'll do fine in co-op but you'll probably kick my ass in 1v1 since it's been years since I've played, but whatever, I'll still have fun playing even if I do get my ass kicked.
