get a 360 first... wait 6 months to a year then get a ps3. why? developers are still having a hard time with the ps3 getting frame rates and getting technology figured out. the games that suffer most on ps3 right now are the ones that are cross-platform (esp cuz most dev's build for 360 - better tools and 360's multi-thread is not crap like ps3)

nhl 08 rocks, the ai is much improved over 07 and it's still got room to get better in 09.

just don't do anything stupid with your 360 as far as heating/power goes. mine's been on literally for about 2 months straight now - no issues. it's true it has sub-standard parts, but keep it in an open, decently ventilated place and you should be fine. And keep it on it's side.

Turn all the lights off, fire up the stove, and play BioShock.

as a games platform, sure it'll take a while to refine and get to a ground breaking level, and sure, for a lot of you guys the gaming is the primary reason you might want one.

i aint gamed in ages to be honest. i have a wii and played quite far through zelda before work took over my life, but before that, last game i'd played was q4 on launch.... so that was quite a while back.

main reason for buying the ps3 was as a blu-ray player. i have a bit of HD fever at the moment, and i figured this was the smart option. I do know that there's going to be a GOOD SONY blu-ray player at £150 by christmas but the extra i've paid gives me an all round entertainment center. i do have a 1080p vista media center already which is more than sufficient, but fucking around with a computer to get movies playing or whatever aint the same as just picking up and joypad and tapping a few buttons before sitting back. The blu-ray kicks ass on top and downloadable games is another added bonus... one way or another, with a PS3 you can always find something fuck around with and do. not to mention the compatability with the existing back catalogue of ps2 and ps one games, some of which are legendary. the fact i can now go out and buy final fantasy vii for a fiver and play it on this console, and then when bored, for 15 quid go and get fxii and play that through cause i missed it on ps2 release... no fucking about trying to get old consoles to work or anything... the system offers pure convienience of entertainment i reckon.

guess the proof in the pudding is if i'm still using it in a months time.

Okay, well I bought my 360 with Gears Of War and Forza 2 (included) and the movie "The Departed" which kicks some serious ass

I'm happy to report I've been playing Gears Of Wars non-stop for 3 days and I still have to die once...jellus?

Now I've just told my friends to buzz off cause I wanted to watch The Departed in english and since none of them understands proper english, I told them to fuck off.

So I'll be watching this movie alone with a lot of sticky and smelly bud
