Dear god I hope not.
Gouda sucks though. Everyone is like "Gouda's soooo nice" but I think it stinks. Even the train crashes we get are pathetic.

Yes, the amperage is what you really need to worry about. 500 milliamps can induce ventricular fibrillation, but I've been zapped by many kilovolts with no ill effects. The big worry from higher voltages is usually burns. I got a lovely jolt from a spark plug once (~50kV) and all it did was make me jump. The ~8kV shock I got from a TV picture tube once was FAR worse as I suspect the current I took was a fair bit higher, plus it went up my left arm, across my chest, and down my right arm. Just about the worst possible path. Good thing I'm a superhero, it probably would have killed a mere mortal like yourself.

seriously, which moron uses a earth wire on a lamp anyway? there's really no need. Dishwasher, laundry washer, kitchen appliances, now that's where the wire is usefull.

100-200mA causes ventricular fibrilation

over 200mA causes severe muscular contactions clamping the heart and preventing fibrilation.

Didn't you learn anything from first year?

correct. static electricity is about 10kV but hardly any Amps. you dont hear about people getting electrocuted after rubbing balloons much do you.
It's really all relative to the resistance of your skin, which will determine the intensity of the poke. Under normal conditions, dry skin has a resistance between 100,000 to 300,000 ohms. Wet or moist skin ( say from sweating ) will have approx 1000 ohms. quite a difference when you want to be issolated from what you're working on :smirk:

yes, because it's common to touch a lamp hanging from the sealing with your bare hands right? :smirk:
anyway, which moron use lamps hanging from the ceiling anyway? I'd rather use multiple smaller lamps on tables and floors then 1 from the ceiling. The light is horrible.

touching them perhaps when youre changing a bulb?
halogen spots?

both answers could be found by thinking about on them longer than .4 seconds

@NS, superman looked like a shaved sasquatch, eh?
@MJKoozi - 10 Dutch beers or good beers?
@Ryo - sooner rather than later, if the initial install team fucks up as huge as they're expected to. If i don't quit from sheer exhaustion first (we common 'Mericuns rr werkin' rr asses off, just like them Japanese boys lately), I'm looking for any of the weeks of Jan 9th, 16th or 23rd? Could be later, still not 100% certain yet...
if it all works out, I'm looking forward to getting smash-faced with you hambone-hole fuckers:)

About installing a lamp? Really?

Give me a fucking break...

If Dumb can't figure this out, he should hang himself from the wires. Nevermind getting electrocuted.

Around here, being an electrical engineer doesn't mean much to anyone who has to apply the design. Half of the imaginary shit the engineers put on drawings, they aren't sure how to execute. The other half is usually poorly designed and has to be corrected in the field.

BTW NS, what do you engineer?

Don't be fucking stupid, I've already wired some lights this week, I'm quite capable. I'm just asking about what to do with the earth wire because I don't do a lot of DIY.

Automated test, control, and instrumentation systems. We design systems around National Instruments measurement and control hardware and write all the software to run it using LabVIEW and TestStand. I create schematics, specify parts, help the techs with assembly, write code, meet with clients, test and debug our systems, deliver and install them, etc., etc.
Right now I'm working on two projects; a series of test systems for a chemical weapons detection system from a major defense contractor and a code base upgrade for a motor dynamometer test lab application.

yes and the chances you get a shock when changing a bulb because it has no earth wire greatly increases because huh?
good thinking there in those 0.4 seconds

you asked why one would touch a metal ceiling lamp. well there you go. you asked i answered. being shocked by the fitting is dumb either way, with or without earth i agree.

i did get shocked once by a metal lamp, its very traumatizing :tear:

I once cut through a powered wire coming straight from the socket using metal pliers. It gave a nice flame.

I removed the hood from a electricity socket in my living room once when painting, much easier then using tape :smirk:
next, I am painting a wall perpendicular on the wall I removed the hood from the outlet, but had to use some force, so I leaned onto the wall to the left

you dont get to guess what happened :smirk:

thought my hearth wouldn never stop pounding like a maniac

Sounds like cool stuff.

Are the chicks lining up to fuck engineers where you're from an are you able to capitalize being single?
