Re: Lost
SPOILER / THEORY from tonights episode...
Charles needs Des to dentonate another EMP blast (which Jin knows the location of), after they lure MIB to the location. I think this is Charles' method to get rid of MIB once and for all (We already know MIB doesn't like Sonar fences... so guessing he doesn't like EMP blasts either). Des is the only guy who's previously survived a blast, which I guess is why they're using him.

I dig the idea but I'm not sure they'd really need Desmond for that.Turbanator wrote:SPOILER / THEORY from tonights episode...

Re: Lost
Well I was thinking through what makes old desmond unique to everyone else and all I can come up with is
1. Really long term exposure to the island, but Charles has probably had longer himself alone
2. Time travelling mouse mind that was caused by...
3. The emp he detonated! And survived? Infact of all the people afraid of this "massive source of electro magnetic energy", Des is the only person that has ever been exposed to it and survived perfectly... Sorta. And this would tie in with zoe asking Jin to explain the dharma em maps?

Re: Lost
Yeah whatever happened with that UV Door Map in the hatch...? Damn, season 1 was so awesome, it was all spooky and nothing was known, I remember hoping that the big magnet in the hatch would have led to some underground base and all sorts... I kinda miss THAT Lost at times...
Re: Lost
That was season 2
The map was painted on there by mr. Spook the previous inhabitant of the hatch before Desmond (who also made Sayid torture his commanding officer back in the gulf war) and his partner who eventually offed himself with a shotgun - according to mr. Spook. It's just a thing they did to pass the time... Locke is at a stage where he needs to believe something and attaches great importance to it, but it's just a rough map of all the Dharma stations on the island. Helps him and Ecko find the Pearl station though.
I've been fastforwarding through some season 2 eps recently, was wondering about some stuff
It's cool to rewatch btw, some things make a lot more sense now.

oh yea... spook did say his old partner was razinski... sh1t... haha... guess his punishment for drilling against changs orders was to spend the rest of his "career" pushing the button to fix the mistake he'd made...Memphis wrote:wasn't razinski(sp?) the angry security/scientist guy? wondered how he went from barking orders, saying the drilling was his experiment, but ends up in the hatch with mr spook pushing the button.Ryoki wrote: The map was painted on there by mr. Re: Lost
So...the Others have been protecting the Island with Richard Alpert as advisor and Jacob as leader. Widmore and later Ben have been taking orders from Jacob. But Jacob brings people to the island (indirectly) and so do the Others with help of Ben and Richard to prove the Man in Black that people can be good.
Flight 815 crashes on the island cause Desmond fails to push the button that release the electromagnetic energy. Coincidentallly there are numerous people on that plane that Jacob has visited before and are 'candidates' to protect the Island. The Others make a list and inventory of the survivors and abduct people who are useful to them (pregnant women e.a.). Some people are special like Locke and Walt (why is Walt special?).
The Dharma initiative were onto something. They made a lof of stations on crucial places on the Island. They tried to harness the power of the Island, but were eventually purged by the Others who were led by Ben at the time.
Juliette made the H-bomb explode at a crucial place. The timeline has changed and the future is different compared to previous seasons. The past hasn't changed....I think.
So who is Jacob and who is the Man in Black. Are they good and evil? And why can Jacob leave the Island and can't MiB? And why or how can he transform into smoke and be all powerful while a a bit of ash and sonic woofers can stop his movements?
What is the Island? The Island can be moved by moving a wheel and the person moving the wheel is transferred to Tunesia, a juxtaposition of the Island? Is it really the cork which keeps the evil in place.
They'd better answer some questions soon....grrrrr

Re: Lost
I can't wait for RedLetterMedia's 34-hour-long review/ass raping of this dumb show.
I'd do it myself, but then I wouldn't have time for a pizza roll. And that hooker in my basement might actually escape.

Re: Lost
Sure. There's lots of shitty shows that I watch. Hell...I even watch Fox News' favorite knee-capper Jack Bauer on 24, even though it's a shitty show. Although I'm pretty sure nobody would have a cry if I pointed out all the dumb things in that program.

Re: Lost
Anybody been watching "V"..?
I'm trying so hard to like it but the plotholes are already worse than Lost, and the CGI looks like something my local TV news station would use for its reports...
But I tune in because I have a stonker for Elizabeth Mitchell.

Re: Lost
Yeah...I just watched the latest episode and, like "Defying Gravity" I've decided to stop watching it.o'dium wrote:Anybody been watching "V"..?

The story is indeed shit (much worse than the original) and the visual fx were done in someone's basement.
As to Elizabeth Mitchell I've only got a half-chub for her. She has too much of that old woman look in her face. It's not that I wouldn't launch a gob of man-paste across her forehead, it's just that I wouldn't do it twice.
Full Disclosure: I watch "24" because I've got major wood for Annie Wersching.

Re: Lost
It's getting better. Yes there are plotholes and it's about as believable as any alien/sci-fi television show can be (aka not at all), but it's fun. The only bad cgi i saw was when Anna turned into REPTILE and did her own take on babalities.o'dium wrote:Anybody been watching "V"..?

For those crying about it, you have a 4 month hiatus every 4 episodes, so even if you hate it, you don't have to endure it for long. Pretty retarded system ABC has, bro.
Re: Lost
Yeah, what the hell was that 4 month gap about, just as you get into it, boom, cya... Can't believe you dont notice the green screen, its so poor, something about it screams cheap. The last episode where generic tough black man with a heart goes onto the ship, it was all green screen, and at times some of the angles were so wrong. Hell even the car driving bit with Little Miss Hotness and her male model son was all cgi and didnt make sense.
Still, I like where its heading, it just has some major stand out issues at times. The new addition to the team (convict guy) is a pretty cool character, be nice to see where they take him.

Re: Lost
Oh don't get me wrong, I did notice what you said, but i've seen a lot worse CGI in Lost... remember THAT submarine shot?
I try not to let things like that worry me, mainly because I grew up with shows like Twin Peaks or Doctor Who, which hardly had the best effects in the world heh.
I'm prefering V to FlashForward anyway, though both pale next to the mighty Breaking Bad. That is probably the best show on TV for me right now (and it doesn't need CGI to make it's pizzas stick to the roof!)

Re: Lost
Yeah theres some rather odd cg in Lost at times, which given the budget you have to ask "Where does the money go?". Then again Lost hasa LOT of actors...
Not watched Flash Forward at all yet. A friend watched the first episodes and said it was naff, so I walked away. I'm currently watching Lost, V, Fringe and StarGate Universe.

Re: Lost
anyways.
interesting ep. finally those flashsideways are given some meaning other than "this is what could have been" that i personally dont care that much about. does this mean desmond is going to almost-kill everyone on the flight to make them 'see', effectively making him some murdering maniac?
i do feel they better start building towards an ending, cause right now time is scarce and we dont want them to tie things up in the last 20 minutes of the show. :[

Re: Lost
Yes, was an interesting ep. I considered those alternate timeline bits as pure filler since nothing much happened in them, but now it has a point. Sort of.
Will be interesting to see what Desmond is going to do, what with him apparently having become mr. i'll-just-agree-with-everyone all of a sudden
