Yeah, but I mean that with the "war on terrorism", there's at least a physical element to combat. Suicide bombers etc.
Whereas with a "war on racism" you'd be fighting a mostly non-physical mindset.
But I think we agree that both are pretty futile; ppl gonna terror, ppl gona race.

Re: North Korea Launches Rocket and....
Aye but I mean the physical (and even the verbal) aspect of racism is already removed because it's covered by law, you can't go around abusing any old person.
It's ok to vindicate a racist it's how society grows and abolishes that shit, but banning racist words does not fix racist issues anymore than banning drugs fix drug issues.

Of course, censoring racist remarks is just fighting symptoms.
You're not going to eradicate the causes in any way by doing that.
But it *does* send a signal; that it's not ok to use derogative terms.
I strongly believe racism is learned behaviour.
So maybe these censoring measures play a small part in unlearning racist behaviour.

Re: North Korea Launches Rocket and....
I get that and what it's trying to achieve, but racist remarks can be used both derogatory or affectionately (or however which way you mean it), it's the mind the words come out of being the problem. Why not ban bastard ?, it's a derogatory term aimed at someone who can't help that he's a bastard and then we come to drawing the line. Inciting racial hatred goes far beyond words and there's much more I can call you if I were a racist.
I can be considered a racist because I've coined the wrong term, or singing 2pac songs. If racial hatred is the problem then go after the person, not the words and stop reducing the amount of shit I can say in public without getting dragged up on it. IMO it has nothing to do with racism, it's just verbal abuse.

Re: North Korea Launches Rocket and....
the annoying thing is, when it was just the word nigger that was censored, we at least knew that nigger stood for nigger, so we could mentally replace the phrase nigger with the actual word nigger
now that we're doing the same with [LOL RACISM], you have to somehow work out from the context whether the author of the post meant [LOL RACISM] or nigger. perhaps instead of using the phrase nigger to substitute for [LOL RACISM], the phrase [LOL ROGHAN JOSH] could be used, for the sake of clarity. it's a small point, but one that could avoid confusion later on

Yeah, wouldn't it be nice to differentiate the censorship.
[THE N-WORD]
[ROR LACISM]
[EL LOLO RACISMO]
Thinking about it some more, this censoring is such horseshit, and I have to agree with chunk.
The mere act of censoring inadvertently makes the derogatory term more offensive, because it forces the reader to translate the censored term in his mind, dragging him in and making him an accomplice, mentally.
If we're reading [LOL RACISM], we're going to substitute it with the term intended in our head, anyway.
Louis CK says it better
