So after the first mission or so things pick up. So far this one has held my interest longer than BF3, MWF3 and MoH campaigns which were borefests that I never finished.
I like the new weapons and the 2025 missions. Story is decent, voice acting (Tony Todd, Sam Worthington, Micheal Rooker) is great. Aside from the mission where you're riding around on a horse and take out 11 tanks, 30 helicopters and 384 men which is just fucking stupid and breaks the immersion..there is a good mixup of things to do.
Also it has the same random checkpoint bullshit that all the other COD have, I happened to hit one right as I ran out infront of an instadeath drone. After dying another 30 times trying to run to safety I hit the lower difficulty button (which still didnt work) and then eventually had to restart the mission. Now It wont let me switch the difficulty back? Bullshit.
I finished this game. The story and choices kept me going till the end. Was nice to be fighting PMC's instead of the usual brown people. Also new weapons. I think this series has risen above MWF.
From what I've read in the comments over at Kotaku, it's not entirely as described in the article. Apparently there's a bunch of servers where they run the Nuketown 2025 map 24/7, so it's basically the only map in rotation on those servers. Allegedly only those servers were taken down, so you can still play the map but have to wait for it to come up or something.
Not sure how accurate that is, but it seems more plausible than "omg, we can't play this map anymore!"
