I finally had a day yesterday when the wind wasn't blowing, and like you, I was hopping a few fences. 
I ended up taking it out to my buddy's place outside of town where we didn't have any obstacles, or so I thought (I ended up climbing a few trees). It's definitely more fun when you don't have to worry about flying into walls or going in the neighbor's yard. I feel like I finally got the hang of it. I'm ready for the big one...
