I'm disappointed. I expected a french language course to be played while driving ;)

I'm wondering though, was this an "ordinary" bring-your-own-car track day rather than an organized drive-someone-elses-supercars event?

Yes it was - but some people did bring super cars with them as their drives!

That explains a lot. I thought you were going to drive sportscars from a (local) event organizer like the thing I linked to. They don't let you do a whole lot with their cars and generally are lame.

I did go to a Lotus trackday on the Zolder circuit (Belgium) with a colleague who drives a Lotus Elise and that's a lot more fun. Rules were still strict (no competitive racing or lap timing) but you could go when and how long you wanted.

So that means that Exocet and those other cars you were going to drive belong to people you know?

Instead of relying on what cars your friends drive, why not rent a Ferrari or other fast car from a local dealer and tear up the track with it? It would increase the cost of the event by quite a bit, but it'd be worth it methinks.

The rental agency will no doubt charge you for kilometres driven, but they don't have to know how you added those kms on a track instead of a regular street...just don't crash it.

And since loads of people probably already thought of it, perhaps the rental agency has a special insurance package for track use, allowing you to crash it?

He will crash, though.

"If you don't spin off and crash, you're not trying hard enough." - Lewis Hamilton's advice to his younger brother in his burgeoning motorsport career.

Edit: Written before GFY's edit. Yeah, get covered for crashes.

Or better yet, steal it. By the time the owner realizes it's gone you'll have already done a few laps and you'll still have time for a few more since the cops will be looking on the roads first...I think.
