Oh and I like the sleek nature of the Obsidian. I wanted quiet and unobtrusive rather than disco bright and the like. Personal preference, you understand :)

For sure, the case only comes with white LEDs on the two front fans (Corsair AF140) so it's definitely unobtrusive. I installed a couple blue AF140s for the top exhaust and added two cold cathode light bars.

Ok so despite a massive case, I can't have two fans running on the Kraken as I can't get the other power connectors into the motherboard in the case. So now I am just running one fan and the massive radiator. I have gone from a 120mm fan to a 140mm fan and the radiator is close on 150% larger than the last one. Browsing and general use the PC runs in the 30s and if I slam on Prime 95 it takes about 90 seconds before it hits critical. Not bad considering the amount of noise reduction. The PC games at high 40's / low 50's.

On the Kraken x61 - Beautifully built CLC. Well packed and deliver great cooling. The instructions are a nightmare or at least would be a nightmare if you are a beginner or possibly if you have never used CLC before. But the cooler is hugely impressive and despite a noisy start, it has calmed right down.

As I write this, my PC has been running for 30 minutes and the AMD 9590FX is running at 35 degrees - about 18 degrees cooler than with the H55i that I was running.

Your post got me looking at the Kraken X61, ended up getting a Corsair H110IGT instead. Ambient temps are about the same as my Noctua NH-D14 but I love how much more spacious things are without that massive cooling block in there. It's dead silent too.

Nice purchase sir - that was the other one on my list. Kind of wish I had gotten that though, as I can't put both fans on the radiator due to it being too think.

Which brings me on nicely to this; I need a low profile 140mm fan, 15mm depth if possible. Anyone got any suggestion?

Delivered, installed. Summer here and the temps are back down to below 40 degrees on idle. Also it now take 10 minutes for it to hit critical temp on Prime 95. Quite an impressive improvement. Also the silly LEDs on the fan don't make a difference to it at all - can't see them through the case, even with the top air vent off :)

Very pleased indeed

Nice, I'm idling around 35C now. Stable 4.5GHz overclock

Also cleaned up inside by swapping the PSU power cables for an individually-sleeved kit from Corsair
