thats cool as shit, few mates round, select any old game and bang it on, ultimate console:up:
It's probably like that yes. Another quote from the article:
The most positive thing, however, was the sense that Revolution will make strides into areas that neither Microsoft nor Sony are attempting to control. It was the backwards compatibility on two levels - described as the "secret weapon" in press literature distributed after the conference - that drew the most interest. "We have designed Revolution to be a virtual console capable of downloading 20 years of Nintendo content," we were told. It will play NES, SNES and N64 titles, and will be able to play "virtually every Nintendo console game ever created". Iwata said he hoped it would "make us all feel young again".
I'm afraid you'd still have to pay for the games (well, at least the N64 games). I'd be very surprised if you could play those for free, but if that would be true, that reason alone would be worth buying this console

totally agree and that console will last a long long time on my shelf, the lil retro box

That's the least I expect.
But who knows, I doubt Nintendo still make any money from the N64 or it's games and certainly not the NES/SNES, so maybe the games are for free! *hopes*

Lately they've always been talking about how they're "all about the games rather than just technology."

SO WHY DO THEY KEEP RELEASING THE SAME GAMES OVER AND OVER?

I looked at the first titles for this system. It was something as follows:
Mario Tennis, Mario Party 7, something else Mario, something else Mario, etc. It was some news article I was reading earlier today, but don't worry, all of them were lame Mario games that nobody gives a fuck about.

im guessing that "their entire catalogue of games" they mean stuff by nintendo. if not - cool, although i have all those games playable on a snes already. still fun

and yes, i agree with the franchise thing. everytime they come up with a new innovative gameplay element or game, they insist to have either Mario, Donkey or Yoshi in there. what, they afraid it wont sell? im not buying it -because- its another Mario Train Simulator Party 15.

'3 dvd cases on top of eachother' btw. yea, if its in horizontal position. actually its the size of a cdrom drive. although the final design will be even smaller. .... ok great. now can we get some games?
