I noticed. What's up with this new heavy machine gun weapon? Seems rather pointless?

I dunno why, but Quake Live suddenly feels very alien to me :(

The old one was always pretty useless though, this seems to do more damage I think?

I quite like the new (compared to vanailla) modes, like domination, single-flag CTF and freeze-tag of course :).

The new passage way on Hearth seems quite good to me. Gives you another escape route!

yeah the MG is pretty decent actually, esp. with quad

we really don't need a damage indicator that looks like it came from Ultimate Street Fighter though. what's next - critical hits?

Having a PC that does not meet the minimum specs for QL, I am unable to play it, so can someone please tell me the specs of the HMG? I'm interested to know what I am missing.

• Damage per shot
• Rate of fire
• Ammo limit
• How much ammo you get per box
• Hitback (i.e. how much it pushes your opponment away - does it relate to the damage done?)
• Is it insta-hit like the MG or is it a projectile weapon (think they said it was a more powerful MG so I'm guessing insta-hit)
• What ammo it uses, is it some new HMG ammo or - this would be wrong if true but - does it use the same ammo as MG?
• What maps have it
• What game modes have it
• How it relates to the Chaingun - where it sits between the MG and the CG
• Screenshot of it
• Video of it in action

These are all things they should have specified on the QL website. :alert:

How does your PC not run QuakeLive? Surely anything in the last 10 years will run it :question: .

lol, DTS

to answer your questions:

* not sure
* same as MG
* 150
* ammo is now generic, so you start with (i think) 100 and get 50 more when you pick up a box but prolly 100 if you're below 100 already
* hitback = negligible
* insta-hit
* ammo - not sure
* most maps have it
* dunno
* less brutal than chain gun
* fuck off
* fuck off even harder

Yeah, about this. I find that it's totally not necessary to find another weapon because the maps are filled to the brim with generic ammo boxes. So you don't have to run much further than five yards to grab an ammo box and boost your ammo counts considerably. And this would be true without weapon loadouts as well actually, because there are so many generic ammo boxes, that you never find yourself running out of ammo for any weapon.

Another issue I have is with the see-through-the-walls markers in TDM. It actually highlights a dead teammate through the walls, so when you're outside of a room where a firefight is going on and your teammate died, you'll know there's an enemy in there, most likely hurt as well. That's such an immense tactical advantage, because your enemy doesn't know you are coming in.

Also, is mouse control somehow connected to netcode or something? For some reason, my mouse feels really jerky at times. I played an offline match against bots and didn't experience this problem, so I think it's somehow related to networking. It's highly annoying.

Having said all that, I must admit I still had fun. The game's still fast, frantic and at moments, the most intense gaming experience still. I had a blast playing CTF (where loadouts aren't available to be honest) so I'm not quite yet uninstalling this thing :)

Wow, this game is slowly turning into Call of Duty. All that's left are deathstreaks (rewarding the player for sucking/dying) and the "pity spawn system" (spawn players you killed behind you) and it'll be complete. :up:

Hmmm...

Just returned from 3 weeks holiday across the ditch in New Zealand and went to play QL while still jet lagged (holiday lagged) :alert: :alert: :cry:

So can some one give me the short answer as to what has happened here to Quake Live please?

On trying to get to the forums I get an error message
The QUAKE LIVE forums are offline in order to reduce the overload on our infrastructure. We are working to restore site responsiveness and will enable the forums at that time.

What?

CAn't get to the Support pages and I am due to renew >:(
