Some speculate he was a closeted homosexual that was conflicted with his religion.HM-PuFFNSTuFF wrote:Apparently Mateen was attending the club once or twice a month for the last 3 years.
So no AR-15 automatically means less threat, less death and no bomb?HM-PuFFNSTuFF wrote:No legal way to buy an AR-15 means it would have been more difficult to do what he did. I'm not surprised you don't understand this but most people do.
If IEDs are so great he wouldn't have used an AR-15. It's a reliable, efficient killing machine.
But he liked children and puppies.scared? wrote:Yeah and hitler was a homosexual... Stoopid bullshit...
It's about guns insofar as that is the weapon used to murder 49 people. It could have been a knife or a bomb, but knives don't kill as many people and bombs aren't as accessible. Stricter/enforced gun laws wouldn't prevent every mass murder, but the rate would go down. It's about Islam to the extent that it was the religion the murderer draped himself in to rationalize his hate. In different times and places, different religions are/were used to justify the same kind of behavior and worse. I think when the vast majority of people really read their bible and find out that it says they should murder one group or another, they don't go and do it. It's about homophobia because the killer went out of his way to shoot up a gay bar. He expressed his distain for gay people to his father and friends in the months leading up to the attack. It's also about mental health care. The guy was bipolar and likely had other issues we'll never know about. It could have been managed with the right meds and support system.Memphis wrote:I'm anti-gun. This is not even close to being about guns, but folks keep bringing up gun laws.
Jesus rapebaby Christ... when there actually is a massive and foul case of homophobic hate crime, it's not even about the crime, or the cause, but what implement was used to commit the crime. Someone regressplain that shit for me pls, 'cos I put it into computar and it BSODs.
Statistics supports this, so yes...YourGrandpa wrote:So no AR-15 automatically means less threat, less death and no bomb?HM-PuFFNSTuFF wrote:No legal way to buy an AR-15 means it would have been more difficult to do what he did. I'm not surprised you don't understand this but most people do.

Keep skirting the real issue if it makes you feel better.
Statistics. What statistics exactly? I'm not sure how you could accurately collect the necessary data to support your claim that extremists/terrorists would kill less people without legal access to firearms. Can you provide a link?HM-PuFFNSTuFF wrote:Statistics supports this, so yes...

An AR-15 is more lethal. You know this. I'm sure you do.
See, when people start getting weasel-like I begin to lose interest in having a discussion. Much like when memphis replies with 'women rape women too' like it's anywhere close to male-female rape as a proportion (or loschunk contending that the low conviction rate means that most reported rapes are women making it up) I see that and i know people are being disingenuous or they are predisposed in a way that rational debate won't make any difference.YourGrandpa wrote:I would prefer a car in this instance. because people will, by and large, incorporate new information (i.e. events) into their existing world view rather than modify their views, so you end up with a lot of displacement activity as people downplay certain aspects of an event in order to grind their prepared axeMemphis wrote:Someone regressplain that shit for me pls, 'cos I put it into computar and it BSODs.
