and hey, i just got GTA:SA for xbox, and the controls are so much harder all round. apparently to do a driveby, i have to hold down either the White or the Black buttons, and fire using B... this setup makes it near impossible to accellerate whilst doing a driveby. Also, wtf is up with not being able to look behind you whilst driving ? pure stupidity.
The whole setup seems hugely 'uncomfortable', especially when going from Burnout3 into GTA:SA, the whole feel is completely different, and imo the cars skid way too much compared to past GTA versions (although i've only played the past versions on PC), but this is also just something i'll have to get used to.
i do very much like the pushbikes/BMXs in the game, they are definately my transport of choice. also, i love the way you end up fitting into a little 'daily routine' of sorts... i'll do a couple of missions, go to the gym, box for a while, grab my BMX and ride out to one of the rivers and swim upstream a little, run toward the freeway and drive back home and do a few more missions. Very fun.
Only critisism I really have of the game is having to constantly translate from "Yo dawg, whazzup in da hood y'all? Lez go cruise nigga, smoky wanza drive but dawg you do it, we's all gotta go bust some caps in some niggaz ass cos they be on our turf, yo! Man, then y'all drop me at ma crib yo, word nigga!" to understand what the hell they're saying... It almost feels like sarcastic or satirical the way everyone's such a black gangster :\

I noticed that cars seem to skid a lot more when using the keybaord controls over the Joypad on the PC. I think it's because there's no pressure sensitivity in the A and D keys, so every left turn is like whipping the wheel as far as it can go.
A lot of the gangester talk goes away when you meet some of the later characters.

Anyone knows a tool which lets you extract the radio sound out of the appropriate files? I know there is a tool for the console-version but it sadly doesn't work for the PC version.

I was doing that same thing last night. I forgot about this thread, then remembered today at work. I'll go re-do that mission right now.
Just wish I hadn't blown up my $15,000 low rider afterwards. :icon19:

It's been a while since I played the story, but I believe you get told how to get a license through the storyline.
edit: yes, the 'Verdant Meadows' mission allows you to buy an airstrip

And I just did that mission. I now have an airstrip and a Seaplane in my giant airplane garage. I went and bought every green asset on the map, heh.
Everyone else having fun with this game?

Yep. I've bought all available properties but the $120,000 one up on the hillside (Mulholland is it?) as I'm about $70,000 short ATM.
You guys done the paramedic/fire truck/vigilante/pimp/taxi missions?
I've only finished the paramedic (extra health, w00t) and fire truck (fireproof, meh -- you still die if a car blows up) missions. I keep getting to level 7 of the pimp missions and either I flip the car or the game crashes.
The came often crashes when on the pimp or taxi missions, I hope they patch the problem.
Other than that, I don't think I'm very far. Still haven't opened up the bridges. I just robbed Uncle Sam with Eazy-E lookalike guy (what's his characters name?). I killed the mexican gang members on top of the train with Smoke. I stole the stereo for OG Loc, and I guess I ran out of missions for my brother (don't remember his name either).
How much $ is the airstrip?

Oh yeah, one more thing.
How the hell do you do a drive-by with the PC controls?
Jesus, I can't fire anywhere but forward. Makes the vigilante missions completely impossible, because there's no way to take that many people out by ramming them with your car. It would have helped in a mission or two as well.

There are two keys which let you look left/right during driving. Press one and fire. Done.
[EDIT] Also heavier weapons like AK47/shotguns don't work. Use pistol or micro SMGs.

for drive-by use Q n E to look left / right

Is that the one next to the house of the rapper you steal lyrics from for OG Loc? Hah, when I bought it, I thought it waid $12,000 and ended up with just enough to fill my belly with a salad before going completely broke.

Nope. I'm blitzing through the main storyline missions before doing peripheral things (goddamn I hate the firefighter missions, though).

I haven't had the game crash yet, but there seems to be a synching problem with the voice acting and subtitles/animations when in cutscenes. It didn't happen on the first island, but after that I skipped all the cutscenes until recently, so I don't know when the problem started. Also the sound effect for copleting missions/buying assets gets cut off a split second after it starts, which is also a new glitch.

Damn, you've done an awful lot for not having opened the next few areas. You still have the countryside, then San Fierro, then the desert, then Las Venturas, then back to Los Santos again, hehehe...
How much $ is the airstrip?
$8000. It's cheap because it's abandoned. But it comes with a hangar that can fit 2 planes with room to spare. I've been able to cram 50 cars inside, and the game will save without deleting any of them. Unfortunately, the airstrip is in the middle of nowhere, so it's no quick ride to anything major if you feel like loading the game for a quick spin or something. Also it's a bitch to get the far back center cars out.

Does it make sense to conquer all neighbourhoods besides the fact that you will get more respect and a bit more money or is it better to follow (only) the missions?

Once I left Los Santos, I never bothered with territories again after that.

my territories dissapeared
they're an excellent way to build up your pistol / SMG / AK47 skill though

You sure it's not just that you left that island? They don't show up on the map if you're too far away (and gangs stop trying to take them over).

Well, I think the countryside is open...I never saw it closed.....heh
There's the trailer parks & barns, etc. That's gotta be what you mean.
Should I concentrate on missions for 1 person? Will that open up new areas sooner? I usually alternate.

the Zero missions are fun, especially the final one .. That mission did make me plug in my joypad though, which I'm glad I did to fly the helecoptors/planes later on.
