Someone'll have to show me how to convert Quake3 movies to .avi.

I've got hours of demos laying on the hdd, I'll play through a few of them and see if any are worthy.

Btw, most of the demos I have are of complete games ~>10 minutes prolly. There a way to chop that up into smaller pieces?

I might have read the thread wrong, but I thought he wanted the raw demo...not an avi (for different config reasons)

I'm not playing anymore really, but I do have loads of old demos. I can look through some and see what I find.

If it turns out that no one wants or can make it, I can do it. But I'm not sure about the "having your own music for your stuff" part as it would mean switching music a lot and that isn't a good Idea I think. How about people make suggestions to music they like and I or we pick what will eventually be used?

What is an easy way to cut a demo into pieces? If you have a demo of a 20min match then it would be gay for the person that compiles the video to search through the entire thing. It would be better for the demo taker to just submit a piece where the action happens, but I dunno how to do that.

My thought was that each and everyone one of us record our own stuff and send it to the guy making the video together with the song we want for our trick/frag part and he compiles it all into one great tribulation video.
So we send our rec. demos and i dont mean a 20 minute long rec demo where you miss/dont pull off a tric the 20 first times.. but we send the demo where u pull off that trick or get that awsome frag.. meaning: we send lots of small parts and he compile it in to our entry and as a vid.

A rule is that each entry can be no longer than a minute long.. or else we got one massive vid file to download...

good?

ok...list updated here and in first post *read* with right name spelling*read*:

reefsurfer
MKJ
Yeando
losCHUNK
bikkeldesnikkel
CrinklyArse
Mr.Magnetichead
Survivor
Don Carlos
Bacon

Who would like/has the time to compile all the demos into one nice Q3W/Q3A tribulation video with songs and intro/outro and what not? :paranoid:
I can do it...but it wont be good nor will it be made in 1-2 days since im working and i havent made a video in 3 years... ooh and i dont have adobe stuff either.. :tear:

When e-mail or uploaded or whatever, pack everything together with zip or rar and put a textfile in there with the times for the various demos etc..

Hmmm, I guess that makes sense.

That's what I do whenever I go through demos to find useful stuff :) It takes only a very short time to fast forward with timescale 20 or 40 or whatever to wherever the action is.

we need to get a guy to compile them... how about you MKJ?
Anyone good with adobe premiere/after effects and/or other video making programs?

I know these programs and could produce it. But sadly from past experience, these things never follow through to completion and its just a waste of time for everyone involved. If someone definately wants to do it though, i'm sure I could send a demo or two.

As I said already, I can make it, but I have a question about the music part.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to have one song for each who is in the movie. That will make it switch a lot, and it's not a good way to do it IMO. How about finding some songs to use for the whole movie. People can come with suggestions of what they like to have in it maybe?

If people send demos, they could zip or rar them with a text file included with the times where the highlights is in the demo and I can take it from there.

So, is there any interest in making this reality? And I can edit it if needed. I'm not a wizard by any means, but I love gaming movies.

If there is interest, I can set up an FTP account on a domain I have so you can upload demos.
