The last movie you saw
Re: The last movie you saw
AVP Requiem - 5/10. The only predator movie I thought was really good was the first one. Some of the special effects in avpr were good but I found it kinda boring overall.
Re: The last movie you saw
avp2 3/10.. not sure if its better than the first.. its definatly darker more brutal.. but at some times totaly ridiculous, with plot holes everywhere.. where the hell came the predator/alien hybrid from?! and why the fuck do they change the way aliens work ?! with this hybrid that can spit out aliens eggs en mass.. total bs.. to rent yourself alien & predator thats a better choice..
i am legend 6/10 .. i liked it because of the slow pace.. till the bad cgi "zombies" showed up.. liked how the showed the degenration of smith over the time. how it changed him etc.
the kingdom 7/10 entertaining flick, best of the 3 but at the end all of them are on timers for me..

The Golden Compass - 2/10
I think Spiderman 3 has some serious competition for cock cheese of the year.
That's what I get for expecting something good from a kiddy flick. Honestly, it tried so hard to be a LotRish epic masterpiece that it was just cringe-worthy at best.

Pan's Labyrinth 8/10
I really got into the fantasy stuff, which managed to be both incredibly creepy and really pretty at the same time. Was really well done, i thought - my only gripe is that they should have put more fantasy stuff in there. The 'reality' bits were very fucking brutal, unexpectedly so... Especially that scene where psycho daddy smashes the face of farmboy in with a bottle of wine... didn't see that one coming.

I'm at two minds as to how appropriate the face smashing scene was. Seemed rather gratuitous but then again it may have been utilised to straight off the bat give great emphasis as to what a cunt The Captain was.
Re: The last movie you saw
Yeah, i took it as such.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets
i dont know what to rate it. in this one, they find the treasure really fast. this one seems like a gimmick of the first one. I say the first one is better.

Re: The last movie you saw
The music sort of turned it into a disney type movie, where it's like THIS IS HOW YOU SHOULD FEEL RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THIS IS THE MUSIC WE ARE BLARING FROM THE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA+JuggerNaut+ wrote:wow that must have been terrible. the first one was utter shit.andyman wrote:National Treasure: Book of Secrets

the action is so cheesily built in... even in the movie they acknowledge this.

Sweeney Todd 10/10
Fuckin' brilliant! Only Tim Burton could make a musical masterpiece out of a story centered around revenge, a razor-toting serial killer, and cannibalism. In my opinion its his best film to date. Depp owned the role, as usual. This one is definitely worth seeing in theatre.

Sweeney Todd: 9/10, thoroughly enjoyed it although musicals are always a bit too by-the-book for my liking; does music not lend itself to anything other than cliché?
The Woodsman: 8.5/10, enjoyed this one too. Kevin Bacon turns in a really intense performance as a newly paroled sex offender
Shoot Em Up: 6/10, because I expected much better action sequences. I like all of the actors involved, but this was really underwhelming.
Kalifornia: 7/10, started off really slowly, but built up to a decent third act. Another solid cast.
No Country For Old Men: 9.5/10. wow.

Taking Liberties - 9/10 - a kind of british Fahrenheit 9/11, minus most of the laughs unfortunately, but well worth watching. there's a book as well. always good to be reminded what a slimy cocksucker tony blair was

National Treasure II was pretty lame. 4/10.
Re: The last movie you saw
I shaw woodsman in one of those hiden away movie theaters for some reason mainstream didn't bother with it, but it was indeed a great movie.sliver wrote: The Woodsman: 8.5/10, enjoyed this one too. Kevin Bacon turns in a really intense performance as a newly paroled sex offender

I can't help but think that the ending makes or brakes a movie... and No Country for Old Men was one of those that took the low road (if you may) for an ending and it worked...soon enough it will be a standard ansd we'll all revert to watching movies derived from the 70's

For any of you that never read the book, this statement is correct. Will Smith never makes the serum.phantasmagoria wrote:I am legend. What a crock of shit.

Stardust - 8/10 Very pleasantly surprised. I olo'd quite a bit. Claire Danes and Michelle Pfeiffer are both hot. Cinematography was pretty nice. Robert De Niro as a homo. Decent story for a cliched fairytale film. All around winner.
Victor Victoria - 6/10 Again, pleasantly surprised. Quite funny too. Not quite astonishing, though. The music sucked for being considered a musical. Julie Andrews is nice to look at, but she doesn't pull the off the "man" act at all. James Garner was ok, but Robert Preston and Alex Karras were definitely the most interesting characters. Also, for a PG-rated movie, there sure was a lot of tits, "faggot"s, and Lesley Ann Warren browneye money shots.
