Another thing to consider:

How many thousands of dollars have you spent on equipment? How many hundreds hours have you spent researching techniques, doing trial-and-error shots, fucking around with lighting, etc. to get where you are today? Not that they are here to reimburse you for all your costs, but if you are a serious photographer then treat your photos as such. Somebody with pro or semi-pro gear selling a photo for $900 just makes it seem like they don't even value themselves. Treat your photos with respect and others will too.

I think mrd's figures are a bit high. It all depends on what kind of license they want and what your royalties are.

Ask them what their ball park figure is. If it's low, you can laugh at them, or you can seriously ask yourself how much you expect the picture to make without them, and take their offer.

If they want exclusive use, it'll be more than if they don't mind you retaining an option to reuse the image. They may want to purchase the IP from you completely, in which case you generally double whatever your rate for the image is.

There's too many variables we don't know about that we'd need to work out a price.

In simple terms, what is the lowest you're willing to let it go for?

Don't have any information as yet, I know the website is http://www.civilunrest.net/ and the tickets are going live soon.

I probably won't be at the exhibition now, as it turns out. My work will be though.
Cheer mate, might see you there if you turn up :clownboat:

Cool man, it'll be a really good exhibition. It's not like others. It's got an amazing theme.

It's dystopian, police-state stuff. You get ushered through metal detectors, guards frisk you and escort you round, and behind the work on the walls are guard dogs barking and going apeshit. Sounds like it'll be really intense.

There's also a world-class cuisine served in the form of a prison meal. It looks like shit, but tastes amazing.

It'll be a real experience. I'm either there on the Wednesday show or the Friday evening show, but I won't know which one for a couple of days. A drink on me if we cross paths though :)

A poor shot from an explore that went wrong last night. Battersea Power Station in London. The plan was to scale the chimneys and get shots of London's skyline, as well as the battersea power station control room, but we could only get to the second floor, as everything else had been sealed shut.

Took the wrong route at the start, and ended up sneaking into Battersea Dogs Home by mistake. Only realised when we were right in the floodlit grounds. Snuck back out, and luckily, the Thames was at lowtide so we went to the power station by going along the drained riverbank and then climbed a crane that led to a bridge leading into the station.

Way too much work for that one shot, and my legs are cut to shit from long hikes through brambles, over barbed wire fences, and climbing over and under grates.

That's how it goes sometimes, though...

Nothing decent to photograph, and had to be careful as there's a regular guard patrol. grabbed this shot on the way out.

Jeez, that's a lot of work. Cool shot though. Have you ever been caught or fucked around by someone when you're doing something like this?

Yeah, been caught and stopped, had a couple of meaningless threats, and some near-misses etc..

Since the stuff I explore is derelict and abandoned, and I'm only going there to record and document it, I'm not a particular threat to the value of the building or its contents.

Sad, not all urbexers act ike this...

In January I explored an abandoned railway power station which must be shut down for at least 30 years now.

Do me a favour if you are in that area again, get a moody shot of the Grennwich tunnel. I walked through tere alone one night a few years ago and I can say I have been in very few places I felt more intimidated and eerie. Would be good to have a nice picture of it

I would like to say "nice picts" but the chromatic aberrations made me both vomit into my lap and kill the first kitten that I saw. You're a horrible human being and you should be strangled with your own intestines you stupid fag.

Oh...and nice picts.

Can any UKers recommend a good online printing service? Just had 10 6x10 prints done and it cost £35 fat ones...seems a little steep?

This dream-like picture shows each phase of the sun over Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge taken during half a year. The image was captured on a pin-hole camera made from an empty soda can with a 0.25mm aperture and a single sheet of photographic paper. Photographer Justin Quinnell strapped the camera to a telephone pole overlooking the Gorge, where it was left between December 19, 2007 and June 21, 2008—the Winter and Summer solstices. (That’s a 15,552,000 second exposure.) ‘Solargraph’ shows six months of the sun’s luminescent trails and its subtle change of course caused by the earth’s movement in orbit. The lowest arc being the first day of exposure on the Winter solstice, while the top curves were captured mid-Summer. (Dotted lines of light are the result of overcast days when the sun struggled to penetrate the cloud.) Quinnell, a renowned pin-hole camera artist, says the photograph took on a personal resonance after his father passed away on April 13—halfway through the exposure. He says the picture allows him to pinpoint the exact location of the sun in the sky at the moment of his father passing.
I could get into this shit. http://www.pinholephotography.org/galle ... index.html
