yeah it was, but it's also the last battlefield-like game that was actually not gay.

Not that I have an nvidia card, but I don't think I have a games profile, at least, that I can find? Nothing about it in my default.cfg either.

so much to work with, so little jokes.
he must really be mad.
(strange how he calls q3 a pile of wank btw.. arguably the most influential shooter of the 2000s)

yeah that was probably the most wtf moment I've had watching his reviews. It was so "whaaa", I was distracted for the rest of the review.

Has anyone been able to finish the 5th round of Five Finger Filet? I can do rounds 1 - 4 without problem because they're predictable but round 5 is completely random. Just can't seem to do it
And what's the secret behind scoring $750 in Mutant Bash TV? I got up to $680 but that still seems a long way from $750.
Oh, and once I go to Subway Town, are 5 finger filet and Mutant Bash TV still available there?

So, another bitter Rage review. I just don't get it: I'm enjoying myself thoroughly with it and compared with, for example, Gears 3 I find it actually a better game.
Perhaps it's just me, but it almost seems like people's expectations for a new id game are just absurd and that they are measured against different standards than the rest of the industry.

Because COD has, in no way, ever suffered from "consolitis"

feedback wrote:For example, the message board missions just have you immediately travel to an area and stick you up on a terrace using magic. It would be 10x more interesting if they had you leave the base with them (they could make you leave your car in the garage) travel there, get out, then find your own vantage point to cover them. Anything except cutting corners and just putting you in a retarded box.
I approached those job board missions more like mini games. The sniper ones were just that: simple sniper mini games to enjoy as a little distraction from the main game. Similar to the bar games that are on offer.

I'm enjoying Rage more than Gears as well

You can ride the blimp back to wellspring. But yes, the finger game and card game are in the new bar. I don't think the dice game comes over but there is a new guitar game.

Finding places on the map is such shit, why is there not a labeled map in this fucking game?

Five Finger Fillit it easy as piss, all five rounds... Or its impossible. It depends where you do it. I found mine to be bugged so bad I could't even play it in Wellspring, but in Subway Town I did it easy as pie.

Yeah... I returned rage back to the store early to rent Forza 4. It's just one of those games that does nothing to immerse you in it's environment. Pretty though.

I finally beat round 5 of five finger filet. I made a seperate save in front of Mutant Bash TV so I can go back for that cheevo. Ready to head to subway town now, but had to install DVD 2 to HDD first so I didn't get to that yet
But is bitwise correct in that you can go back and forth between wellspring and subway town? I thought you couldn't, so I was afraid I'd miss out on achievements.

I thought the same at first as well, but after a while I learned the layout of the town and the wasteland and it's not much of a problem anymore. The wasteland isn't
that big.

I played a bit of Gears 3 again this afternoon because I still had to install DVD 2 of Rage to HDD and didn't want to jump to the next town before doing so. But when I played that (and this is going to make me look like an even bigger id Software fanboy) it just struck me in such an undeniable way how incredibly bland and sterile Gears 3 looks after having played Rage for such an amount of time.
My amazement about people complaining that Rage doesn't look good continually grows. I find it harder and harder to sympathize for that sentiment because Rage looks absolutely amazing. Sure, textures aren't super high resolution, but at the same time people ignore the incredible amount of geometric detail, the fantastic character animations, not to mention the huge variety in character animations or the quality of the artwork.
I also don't understand why people find Rage a "soulless" shooter. Rage has more soul, diversity and depth than any previous id Software game has ever had. Compare Rage to games like Gears 3 or Modern Warfare 2 and you'll see that it's
those games (series) that haven't done anything new in 5 years time. Sure, Rage may not be exactly revolutionary in it's gameplay or storytelling. Its story might be a bit bare-bones, but it is just enough to support the setting and world. The gameplay is pretty good IMO. It's direct, intense and exhilarating like a true id Software game. When ignoring the mini games, the crafting, the NPC's, the driving, the racing, the job board side quest, mutant bash TV, the use of engineering items, etc, etc, sure in the end it's just shooting one bad guy after another, but isn't that what all first person shooter games boil down to in the end?
I find Rage to offer a far more memorable experience than the incredibly bland Gears of War 3 or the mediocre Modern Warfare 2.

yes, just go back to the blimp, and once you want to go back to the new town, just go to the "resistance" hideout by the back of the bar.

I can't say for sure since I didn't play it long but I also find Gears boring. and I've yet to play Modern Warfare as there's nothing there that looks interesting. That said, my judgement in regards to Rage was fairly similar. One thing I like was the enemies movements. I found it enjoyable to watch them jump off walls and whatnot but found it annoying I couldn't do the same thing.
I agree the graphics are incredible but in regards to gameplay it's just ok. If I didn't have anything better to play *cough*Forza4*cough* I'd probably still be playing through it. I enjoy a good game that draws me in though and this just doesn't seem to do that. I enjoyed the racing sidegames however
