Lemme guess, he uses roids?
Yeah...he's the total package, kid.
Couldn't let this pass:
Men who take large doses of anabolic steroids typically experience changes in sexual characteristics. Although derived from a male sex hormone, the drug can trigger a mechanism in the body that can actually shut down the healthy functioning of the male reproductive system. Some possible side effects are:

* Shrinking of the testicles
* Reduced sperm count
* Impotence
* Baldness
* Difficulty or pain in urinating
* Development of breasts
* Enlarged prostate
Androgenic freaks...

Wow...never, ever heard any of that before. Shit, all those years of biochemistry in college and graduate school....I missed all that.
Duhard and I are really lucky to have you pointing that out. sys0p, I hope you wrote all that down too....

Remeber, anti-aromatases are your friend - they can help prevent gynocomastia (you can figure out which symptom above that is). As is human chorionic gonadotropin. Most important - intelligent cycling and use. There are always risks. But there are risks with the food you eat and pretty much every prescription drug out there.
I wonder how many smokers and drinkers blast the roids while spending much of their life stoned, drunk, etc...

So many people here get up in arms about the misconceptions most people have about weed - laughing at the anti-drug commercials targeting it, etc....but turn around and fall on the other side of the fence when it comes to roids. I find that odd, and most likely the result of a lack of real knowledge and experience...

A liberal stance but not one I'm agreeing with. Experience, no: never felt the need to artificially enhance my body[1] and tbh, never understood said need in other people either. Knowledge, at least a little: anabolic steroids have their use in medical treatments but they don't belong in gym clubs. But let's leave the health risk out of this; you seem like a smart guy, tnf, so you're probably aware of that. Why do people start taking steroids in the first place? Selfesteem issues?

PS: on the topic of weed, it isn't all that harmless most people believe (want) it to be but the effects are long-term, psychological and - usually - relatively subtle (apart from not being able to get out of bed in the morning :) ).

[1] Don't try to derail by starting about vitamin supplements or what not...

90% of the cases this is true.

Derail it? Why do people take ANYTHING to change the way they feel, look, perform, etc.? You could make a weak (and it is weak) self-esteem argument in virtually every case where medical necessity was not the reason. Bringing up supplementation isn't derailing the conversation, because, if supplements do what companies ADVERTISE them to do, people who take them should ALL fall into the same "self-esteem" category that you mention.

There are countless reasons people might use steriods - and in some cases self-esteem might be the reason....but....reef, don't take this personally, but you don't have a clue if self-esteem issues are the reason in 90% of the cases. I've met and known a LOT of steroid users and dealers in the last 12 years, and self-esteem was not a quality that most of them lacked (and I am a fairly perceptive guy...so I am pretty confident that they weren't hiding their esteem issues when I was around.) Many of the folks were competetive bodybuilders who wanted to get to the next level, and knew that roids were the nature of the business. Most were conscientious of the health risks when they used them, and tried to do so in the most 'reasonable' doses required for effective results. Others just wanted to see how much further they could take their strength and physique gains beyond the natural peak they had reached after years of hard training. Others were just curious to see how their body might respond to 1 or 2 cycles - curious to see if they could throw on that extra 30 lbs with roids that their body had stubbornly resisted naturaly - knowing that they would lose a lot of it when they came off, but figuring that if they gained 30, lost 15 of it - that is still 15 lbs. Again, to try and postulate why people use steriods is ridiculous, because the reasons might be different for every person. If you want to say that 90% of them have self-esteem problems - be prepared to accept other people's argument that 90% of people who smoke weed do it because they are too fucking weak to handle the realities of life without viewing them through a drug-induced haze that makes their feeble and weak existence more tolerable. That isn't my opinion, by any means, but one worthless percentage/statistic deserves another.

And now, lets lay the roid discussion to rest.

This is fresh information. Did you know that men who drink large doses of bleach, die? Did you know that if you take large doses of punches to the face you can end up disfigured? This last one's just a rumour, but I heard if you take large doses of budweiser, you can get drunk.

I think the key words in your post are "large doses" and "can" and "possible"

Cheers for the info though.

And where do you get this info from, since 90% of steroid use is likely medicinal?
