So I bought an old Zenit SLR camera from the local market for a tenner. These pics are just lifted straight from the CD I got when I got my first film developed, I'm gonna pick up an old enlarger from ebay when one comes up locally, they're so cheap.

There's something incredibly satisfying about using an oldschool film camera, because each shot is precious and you haven't just got a memory card that can hold thousands of images it forces you to plan each shot with precision and not waste it. With these there was also an added sense of anticipation because I didn't even know if the camera worked, no instant gratification with a preview viewer. It's also nice to leave the house with a gadget that doesn't need any batteries, the light meter is the form of a photoelectric cell and a weird calculator so I'm really surprised I got my aperture and shutter speeds fairly alright.

it was towards the deleted post... but hay watsup

HDR of a quadruple stack of double stuff oreos. lots of editing and a shit ton of spot removal. lightroom makes that really really easy though. can't beleive the .psd is 135mb :)
it was around 12 or 13 1sec exposures at f22 looking up towards the bottom, every shot flashed from a different angle. the picture is in black and white though. one of the few times that the image i had in my head came out exactly how i wanted it.

I haven't got my camera out for a while but did on the weekend and thought I'd throw this up :)

Might get me interested in some more photography soon

By the way it is untouched or 'shopped (just a re-size for here).
The background, I hear you ask? Well it was a frosted glass table top that made for a good surface methinks?

edit: changed directory paths

wanted to try a night shot with a long exposure and some flashes to try for something else but wound up finalizing on a shot that didn't use the flash at all. lol?

Very cool shot Andy - looks like a poster.

Those are great - I think I might have to break out the old film gear I had donated to me and give it a shot one of these days. You are exactly right about the feel film offers in terms of each shot. You did a fantastic job with these - they all have that grainy, textured, interesting look to them that film is perfect for.

Avocado Seed.

Sourced from a 293 megapixel image. Photoshop file takes up 3.5GB of disc space.

The avocado seed is about 2" in height. To illustrate the sheer size of the original image, this is a 1/4 inch crop scaled down to 25% from original resolution:

Did they use one of those robotic tripods to take this pic?

Interesting to look back through this thread - I forgot how awesome FanaticX's work is.

That's the right idea, the object is placed on a table top with the camera hooked up to motors. Lighting is just from an array of desk lamps that I placed around the object reflecting off a home made light box.

Getting my parent's neighbour's old enlarger and developing gubbins this weekend, apparently it cost hundreds when they bought it. Dad rescued it from them when he saw them throwing it away.

I can't wait :D.

So what was running through your head when you saw that bear???

That the little fucker had better check himself before he wrecked himself.
A guy was killed right by where we stayed by a grizzly the day we showed up - right where I was going to go shoot the sunrise the following morning. I wish I could have had a chance to shoot a grizzly a little closer, but the only grizzlies I saw were about 1.5 miles away - 3 of them over a dead bison with 2 wolves trying to move in on the kill.

The black bears are all over the place, I saw about 12 or so in the few days we were there. They are more docile but have killed as well. That bear shot was taken in the evening, light wasn't good - iso was high. Ran right past me - I was standing alongside my car and then jumped back in when it started to come across the bridge.

so yellowstone is a pretty slum-like area... government funded living for them, what can ya expect :(

you're brave though, I watched The Edge the other day and NO WAY will I bother to photograph a bear.

Nice pics tnf.
What's the orange sediment on the 5th pic? Almost looks like dried up oil or something but I doubt that's it.
