What's best priced quality pistol you would recommend? I'm not looking for something that would take the head off of a rhinoceros.
You could get a Glock 26 (9mm) or a 27 (.40 cal.) and you wouldn't be sorry. Those two are great concealed carry weapons. Glocks are also reliable, quality handguns that fall into the medium price range.

I personally don't like Glocks. It's the way they feel when I'm shooting. They don't fit right in my hands. But you're right, they are reliable. You can probably throw it in sand and it'd still fire. But I dont know if that's a good thing.

I like the 1911. But tnf, I'm thinking that's gonna be too much gun for what you're carrying for. You should check out a Colt or Taurus . Better yet, find a local gun shop/range that let's you rent to fire. Tell them what you're wanting to carry for, and they'll give you some suggestions and let you fire some. Then you can choose the gun that's right for you. Cause you want to feel comfortable with what you're carrying.

I have a friend who got a Kimber 9mm recently, and I love it. The frame is exactly like a 1911, but it's not nearly as large. Kimber's are slightly pricey though, if you don't think you'll ever get any use out of it (like the occasional target practice).

I have an Auto Ordinance 1911, but those are probably just a little large for what you want.

I really like Walther 40's -- take a look and see what you think of them. They're light and compact, but accurate and easy to fire.

Damn right. Kimber makes great firearms.

I've only shot a Walther .22 pistol. But they are great guns as well.

That's supposed to read "So is your mother, now get out of my trailer!" I thought the red, white and blue would be a nice southern redneck touch.

Arabic. :disgust:

Granted the Kimbers and sigs are great guns, but they're way over priced for casual use.

I'm disappointed in you neffy, it's a bullshit excuse to get a gun and you know it.
Bears would be a different story, you can actually see those coming.

Yes, I call BS too. I mean why would anyone want to do everything legally possible to protect themselves? It's almost laughable to think that any person would value their life more than someone/something else trying to take it, enough to buy a hand gun. tnf must be a closet right wing republican that wants to ban abortion, shove religion up our asses and kill all niggers.

I'm disappointed that you think carrying a gun while hiking in areas where cougar attacks have occurred is bullshit.
Cougars, bears, even a mother moose with a calf nearby - all could pose potential threats - I'm not talking about running around the woods wildly shooting animals. Generally firing the gun into the air would probably be enough and odds are I'll never even need to use it, but I'd rather be equipped if the need arises. Trust me, I don't have a hidden motive here.

I'm sure you want to kill innocent people and animals for no reason at all. That's the only reason anyone would legally purchase a hangun. You're a murderer!!!

You mean firing into the ground - not into the air, right? :sly:

Good for you.
I'm applying for my CWP today - I'm thinking that since I already have a background check, etc, on record as an employee of the state things might go faster.

Before I go buy a gun, though, I'm going to see if there are any unused pistols within the family. I know my dad had an older 0.25 caliber pistol that isn't used. If I were planning on using it a lot for target stuff perhaps, but for what I need I don't know if I want to drop $500+ on a gun. I could go real old school and use the Nazi Luger P08 we have (grandfather got it at the same time he got all those Nazi war knives I posted on here awhile ago) or the WWI issue US Army .45, but something about carrying a Nazi pistol out in the woods feels weird.
