First glimpse of the (official) Minecraft Pocket Edition running on Xperia Play. Will come to other Android devices as well.

i hope mojang don't waste too much valuable developer time on mobile platforms. i mean, yeah, great - if you're desperate to play mc while queuing at the supermarket; but they need to focus on bringing the pc version up to scratch for the full release, and maybe even thinking about mc2

Server works for latest version. There's a bug where if you warp to a different world you get logged out; but when you log back in you're in the new world so it ain't that bad.

I check in every now and then but I seem to have lost all my gear but I'm sure there are chests full of it sitting somewhere.. I've been meaning to get back into it but I'm scared I'll get sucked back into it :olo:

1.8
Since 1.8 is still a significant time away, we’re going to have to stop being as secretive about it as we have. We’ll provide information about it as we go, but we’ll keep actual details secret. So, for example, we could say “added two new colors” without saying which ones, or “testing experience and leveling to see if it’s fun” without giving details on exactly how it works.

The update is pretty big, and will change a lot of how Minecraft is played, focusing on making exploration and combat much more rewarding, and bringing in a bigger sense of adventure to the game.

Already implemented are new complex terrain features, at least one new mob, some interesting new combat mechanics, a new lighting engine, and some experimental new gameplay ideas. To come is more interesting farming, bigger incentives to explore, and npc villages.
npc villages... interesting

There's already a few mods that add those, the most popular of which is this one: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/227 ... all-fixes/

I've only been playing this game about 2 months now, but it seems like there's SO MANY great ideas already made in the way of mods that Mojang could basically steal legally. But what's coming in this next patch? Pistons. That's it. What was in the last patch? Hatches and useless maps. :miffed:

Sounds like some fun stuff... the lack of being able to explore has always been something I disliked about minecraft.

Hmmm connection refused after update. I guess there's pistons now, gonna give it a go in sp with my ultimate goal to create a mechwarrior.

Sure if you need clay but it's not exactly fun. I mean actual exploring/questing should have more than clay.

I'd like to see some real surprises when mining, to make exploring more interesting. Like, while mining down, you stumble upon NPCs enacting the scene from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom... the part where the guys gets his heart pulled out and they lower him into lava.
