Wanted: 4/10 A few nice FX sequences can't save the retarded storyline. For a good brainless action flick, see Shoot 'Em Up.

The Mexican - 7.5 / 10

I can't believe I hadn't seen this one sooner. Pretty damn funny in my opinion.

taken 6/10
liam neeson gives a very silly story just enough gravitas to work, right up until the eurotechno kicks in.

GONNAFISTYA wrote: The Long Riders = 8/10 - I hadn't seen this in a while. A fairly accurate portrayal of the James/Younger gang with top-notch acting. A classic western.
Fucking classic right there. One of the best westerns imo.

The Boys From Brazil.
I'd never seen this before and picked it up on Blu Ray. A friend had recommended it to me about 5 years ago, but I'd never gotten around to watching it.
It's a great film with an ensemble cast and strong performances all round.
And the story itself is ahead of its time, but that's to be expected in movies based on Ira Levin stories.
Basically, Dr. Josef Mengele is alive and well, living in Paraguay, and performing a sinister experiment that involves the deaths of 94 sixty-five year old men world-wide.
There's a nice morality play at the end of the movie too, provoking some interesting questions.

Synecdoche, New York

Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) directs his own script, it's his first effort at direction.

It's very well done but exceedingly painful. Do not watch this movie unless you're in the mood for bleak surreality.

My Bloody Valentine 3D

I thought this movie was going to be awful, but it was fairly entertaining.

One of the previews I watched while waiting for the two hour forty six minute Button chick flick was this one:

The Soloist (trailer)

Features Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey, Jr. Looks great. Out in April.

Coraline - 6 / 10

This children's movie delivered on my expectation of creepiness which is a plus.

I dont know where the story was. There was an idea but really no development to it.

The ending was really anticlimactic and I was fairly disappointed as it was overall a bland movie with neat visuals and a good creepy feeling

Outlander 7/10

Vikings + science fiction + a dragon = decent & entertaining movie

Oh yeah, also: Rocknrolla 4/10

An attempt to redo Snatch and Lock Stock that manages to feel tedious and utterly uninteresting.

In Bruges 8/10

A much better movie about British gangsters. Gets a bonus point for the karate-chopping-the-midget scene.

Everything I've ever read by Neil Gaiman was anticlimactic so that doesn't really surprise me. How was the 3D?

Madagascar 2: chuckle-worthy, at best. a re-hash of the same jokes from the first one, but ruined by heavy-handed delivery (even for a kids' flick).
don't bother unless you're really high.
