Really enjoyed this one, the dialogues are most excellent. Went on for a bit too long perhaps and i would have liked to see more of a confrontation between mr bad guy and the protagonist, but yeah, good film.

lol, 99% of the "reviews" and ratings are a fucking joke in this thread. Film is one of my greatest passions, but this thread makes me consistently cringe.

With that, I watched the last Pirates of the Caribbean resently, and quite enjoyed it as a no-brainer popcorn movie, but without drink I suspect I would have enjoyed it a lot less.

I'm afraid you're an idiot. We're ascribing scores to movies based on the medium, not how they impact your life. I could go out and eat a perfect steak but it doesn't mean I want to only eat steak for the rest of my life, wear steak, breathe steak, and make love to steak.

Slumdog Millionnaire is as close a movie I have ever seen to being perfect. It had fantastic acting, a compelling plot, amazing music, spot-on cinematography, great humour, intense drama, symbolism, etc.

To me, that makes a perfect movie.

Beyond that, it was a huge step for Danny Boyle. Although his cinematography has always been strong he's always pigeon-holed himself into a certain niche for the types of movies he makes. This film was a complete 180 from anything he's ever done.

All of these factors (TO ME!!) make for a 10/10. You can either go watch the film and decide for yourself or continue to be a little bitch who complains about the trivialities of our ad-hoc movie scoring system on a forum dedicated to a game that stopped being popular years ago.

W. 6/10 I read somewhere that the problem with this movie is that Josh Brolin is merely extending a 5 min. SNL dubya impersonation into a 2 hour movie. Frankly, that's exactly what's right about this movie. George Bush is nothing other than an SNL impersonation of himself. The movie doesn't have enough teeth or satirical splendor to be very memorable, but watching Brolin dick about in the role for 2 hours is entertaining enough. And lol at Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney.

I'm not a fan of horror films at all. They're often cheesy, cliched, and full of awful special effects. The Thing on the other hand has gritty acting, brilliant cinematography, a fitting score, amazing special effects, and best of all a plot that keeps you wondering long after the film's ended.
It was also nice to see what inspired Dead Space which is undoubtedly my favorite horror game of all time.

That's grounds enough for a 10/10. If you loved every single thing about a movie, why not call it flawless in your own opinion? Different folks, different strokes ey.

That being said, I have yet to see a 10/10 film. A few come close, but no dice yet.

I kind of agree that very few films ever get 10/10. That score means it's absolutely perfect without flaws.

A film that gets 9 out of 10 should be one that is absolutely superb in every way. But perfect? No.

A film I can think of that would get 10 from me would be something like Raiders of the lost Ark, because quite simply, I cannot think of any way that it could possibly be improved. It IS a perfect film. Also, maybe Aliens. Perfectly made.

Not many others though.

I'll have to go ahead and agree with you on that, even though you're not fat.

But...when you mentioned Aliens as being perfect (as in it couldn't be improved upon) there is the debate of which versions of Aliens was better: the original release or the Director's cut?

While I happen to believe the release cut was the proper cut, I can't help but notice that the remote gun turret scenes should have been in the original cut.

Perfect? Almost....but I'd still give Aliens a 10/10 anyday.

I'd also like to point out that I've rated "Shoot Em Up" at 10/10 in this thread because - the evening I watched it - everything about the film fit my giddy mood and in retrospect couldn't have been improved upon. The action, choreography, cinematography, editing, music and dialogue were perfect to the film.

there's a directors cut and original cut? i havent seen alien yet, which should i watch?

Aliens has two cuts....the theatrical release cut and a "special edition" that adds another 17 mins back into the film. My advice, watch the original version first then the 2nd. I actually like the theatrical cut better....except for one sequence at the beginning of the special edition where an unsuspecting homesteader stumbles upon some facehuggers.

Alien has two cuts which only fuck about 4-5 minutes of footage (some added, some removed for each). The Alien Quadrilogy has both cuts of both films. Fuck knows when all this will appear on blu ray.
