So yeah I've been using 5.11 beta but now I tried 5.10a and it appears they give me a bit of a fps boost in most areas. However the driver uses Control Center and I can't seem to find a way to control my refresh rate. So I'm stuck at 60, I'm going to try to get the Control Panel instead since the Control Center is wearing down my system and not allowing me to change shit.

Get them here -> http://support.ati.com/ics/support/defa ... onID=20856

The ggl timedemo is giving me 48-52fps. (low quality/800x600)

I was originally running omega drivers and getting around 35fps.
I upgraded to the 5.10 catalyst which seems to help out a little more.

I have an AMD 2200+ & 6600GT and I get 10-15fps a good part of the time while playing MP. And this is with that special config file that makes the graphics look like complete shit at 640x480.

This game is extremely CPU bound, especially in multiplayer. That's probably your problem, because a 6600GT should do a lot better than a 9800 Pro in this game like I have. Yet I average around 30fps, dropping into the teens rarely and often being between 35-40. I have a P4 2.4 @ 2.8GHz.

shiznit: I'm about to install the 5.10a drivers. They're a complete driver, right? Not a patch to a previous installed driver? Because I think I'm on 5.8, so I don't want to patch an older driver.

ATi's site seems to offer no info on that.

You need to uninstall your other ones, they are messing up my refresh rate in quake4 (I had to use r_diplayrefresh 85). But they seem to give me quite a fps boost.

No idea, I don't get that. I'm using 5.11 control panel I also get some odd driver number but they seem to work.

I'm also gonna try out the 5.11 Beta drivers... some guy on rage3d.com said they give him the best fps on his x800.

THANKS GOODNESS!!!! Performance increases!!!

Using this timedemo: http://media.ggl.com/files/ggl-timedemo.zip

1024 X 768 on HIGH settings

No Decals

No AA... No VSYNC.

Open AL in the audio settings with a SB Audigy 4

Everything else is on with no tweaks in the config:

45.42 FPS on the 5.10A drivers.

Finally some improvement... I won't be satisfied untill I break 50.

Turned on 4x AA and got the same FPS. The 5.10a drivers are excellent... and with a patch from Raven/id the game could get an extra fps boost.

Wow. I'm so glad I installed the 5.10a drivers. Except when a few people are on screen, I'm maxed at 60FPS now, I even bumped the resolution upto 1024x768. It rarely drops into the teens now, usually the lowest is mid 20's.

I also think the extra 400MHz I overclocked the CPU helped though. :)

nVidia > ATI in open GL.

ATI > Nvidia in D3D.

Simple as that... no arguing.
