This thread is all about the appreciation of the male physique.
Not THAT kind of appreciation though.

Frank Zane had symmetry. Wicked serratus muscles.

i'm just calling a spade a spade. It's all good to say:

dude's got a good build

good symmetry

wicked pecs

but as soon as someone says: appreciation of male physique, ppl get all squirmy.

grow up :p

Yeah he was a beast. Running powerslam, elongated vertical suplex, gorilla presses, just to name a few.

the most impressive one I saw from him was a time he had some big fat black guy (mabel I think his name is - has to be 500-600 lbs) on his shoulders. But how he got him there was even more impressive - he was squatting down like he was at the bottom of a deep squat then somehow the guy gets on his shoulders. From that deep squat position, he stands up with an awkwardly distrubuted 600 pounds on his shoulders.
He was a thick guy in person as well. Had a chance to meet him, Sean Michaels, and davy boys wife as they all got out of a limo while I was going into the back entrance of an arena they were performing at (I was going in the back with a friend who was managing security at the time). He was looking very heavily juiced. But a nice enough guy.
Scott Steiner - another beast when it came to strength.

Christ, sounds like a good way to fuck your back up. He had some impressive size though at the end so I bet he was one strong bastard. I'm pretty sure his wife was Bret Hart's sister or something. What was Shawn Michaels like to speak to?

I saw Scott Steiner live about 5 years ago, he was fuckin' hilarious. He had the mic and was calling people in the crowd faggots and telling them to go suck some dick, rofl. I think the strongest guy performing today is Mark Henry, he was a legitimate winner of a Worlds Strongest Man competition a few years back.

It's a shame the storylines and performers aren't worth watching these days.

i'm curious - did anyone who watched pro wrestling believe it was genuine competition? I'm sure kids did, but what about serious adult fans - was it common knowledge before the internet?

(i know that the drama and athletic displays stand in their own right)

Years and years ago they tried to hide the fact that it was 'fake.' Nowadays its common knowledge and they just play it up as sports 'entertainment.' When I was around 7 or 8 I realized it was fake.

Yea, davy's wife was hart's sister. That's what made his death even a bit more notable as Owen had died not too long before. Shawn Michaels was nice enough it seemed, but all I got was a "hello" and a handshake. This was before he was a born again christian I believe. Davy Boy was much more genuine, even though all I said to him was "real pleasure to meet you. Always been impressed with your work, even when I saw it first in 1986 in your tag team days." He seemed honestly thankful at my compliments and told me he's been lucky to do it for as long as he had. Ironic that he died not terribly long after.

hasn't been an enjoyable storyline for some time now.

Maybe I can go on Larry King to talk about all the pro wrestling deaths now.
