hmm, looking at the reactions of muslims(some not all)i guess you could say what the cartoons are depicting is true.

i think it's time they took a good hard look in the fucking mirror. the world was ready to start backing their cause and look at the shit continue.

they are gonna lose the support they started gaining.

lebomb wrote:hello??? That religious zealot Robertson calling for the assasination of hugo chavez? He's talking about killing a guy. Is that rational. Dont matter what your views of the dude (chavez) are. I wont tell ya my views of the president YOU have.
Yeah, Robertson's a fucking nutjob, to be sure. However, he's definitely the exception, IMO. I see muslims pulling shit like this all the time. Of an intolerant bunch (religious types) they're the worst.
Look at the Taliban, blowing up beautiful ancient Buddhist statues because they were "offensive to allah". That's a damn crock of shit.

However it still hinges on the whole man-in-the-sky bit.
No just on his prophet mohammed. You aren't seriously trying to rationalize which "faith" is more believable based on the story they espouse are you? :p

I just got this joke in my email today, thought it was fitting for this thread.

>>>Three guys -- a Canadian farmer, Osama bin Laden, and an American
>>engineer -- are working together one day.
>>>They come across a lantern and a Genie pops out of it. "I will give
>>each of you one wish, which is three wishes total," says the Genie.
>>>
>>>The Canadian says, "I am a farmer, my dad was a farmer, and my son
>>will also farm. I want the land to be forever fertile in Canada."
>>Pooooof!
>>>
>>>With the blink of the Genie's eye, the land in Canada was forever made
>>fertile for farming.
>>>Osama bin Laden was amazed, so he said, "I want a wall around
>>Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran so that no infidels, Jews or Americans can
>>come into our precious state." Pooooof! Again, with the blink of the
>>Genie's eye, there was a huge wall around those countries.
>>>
>>>The American engineer says, "I am very curious.
>>>Please tell me more about this wall.
>>>
>>>" The Genie explains, "Well, it's 5000 feet high, 500 feet thick and
>>completely surrounds the countries. Nothing can get in or out -- it's
>>virtually impenetrable."
>>>
>>>The American engineer says, "Fill it with water."

Dude, America was founded at least partly by a bunch of Puritans. Their stock in trade at the time was defacing churches, because all of that gaudiness was offensive to god. You're descended from exactly the same sort of "fundamentalist religious nutters". (As am I)

To give a bit of perspective: I was discussing this with an Iraqui colleague of mine, specifically the fact that they called for the Danish government to apologize, and he made the point that as far as they're concerned, the media does what the government tell them to and so it's essentially inconceivable to them that the Danish govenrment wasn't involved in the decision to run the cartoons :icon26:

You live in a country in which Rockstar is in court for putting a sex scene in a videogame and Doom is considered responsible for high school shootings, and doctors at abortion clinics are stocking up on bulletproof vests. You also have televangelists.

this little clash should show to Americans that Europe is ideologically with them. muslims in france, muslims mad at denmark, the western state resisting both. 9/11 (and all the "little" events that preceeded it that no one remembers) has everyone spooked whether they agree with the policies that guide TWAT or not.

Are we talking in a certain place? Or are you convinced there are no caricatures ridiculing christians anywhere? If the latter, then you are sadly mistaken.

It's not necessary to ridicule Christians in the US. The ones who deserve it do it to themselves:
