Whats everyone's opinion of the best used car (prefer something around 2005) under $30,000? I'm looking for either sleek luxury or boy-racer with a little class. Right now I'm in love with the RX-8 but they just have so many problems I'm afraid to own one.

I see the 05 Sti is just under my budget but for some reason they've never caught my eye. Maybe I'd feel different after a test drive.
Definately get a test drive. Make sure you hit at least 160km/h and then do a 160-0 braking, the brakes are very nice. With an intake, turboback, and a chip, the car will be perfect.

I think what I love about the RX8 is the 9k redline. A friend of mine let me drive his to lunch one day and it just demands a heavy foot on the pedal. Launching comfortably from a stoplight at like 3k, hearing that engine pur, mmmmm.

Looks like 04 G35 coupe is within range as well.

The STi is a fast car for the money, but that’s it. It’s popular with the kids because it’s so easily moddable and it also enjoys a fantastic rally history. If you buy a STi you’ll regret it until the day you sell it. It’s uncomfortable, noisy, has poorly designed and badly built interior, smelly and people who aren’t boy racers that drive them look like complete cunts. I couldn’t drive for move that two hours at a time in one in fact I found myself being in a worse mood when I got to a destination than when I left. Fuck, even the caddy shits all over it for being an all over car and the fact TB loves them just compounds my point.

I'd get a newer used IS200 if I were you. Actually, odds are high that I WILL be getting an IS200 in the coming few months, so I'm a bit biased, but I haven't found anything better IMO that's in the price range. (Though I'm not looking for a racer, I need something that's luxurious/classy enough and still moves when you floor it, which is why I'm not even looking at the STi)

Or fork out a little bit extra and get a new 1.8T A4, costs about 36k $ over here for the cheaper ones (without AWD, manual, etc)

We don't have the 200 here in the states. Before 2006 the only IS is the 300. I could get an 06 is250 but that would be stretching my target payment. I still owe a couple grand more than my eclipse is worth so anything I buy is going to cost more than sticker.

Basically the same car, bigger engine. I would even concider getting it over the IS200, but, unfortunately, they don't sell the IS300 in Europe :p

Shit all over your family and get a Lotus Exige.

Oh wait, you wouldn't fit in those.

Ok, what Doombrain said, get the BMW, but as a Diesel.

P.S.:
And FFS don't get a Saab, no matter whether it has a Saab or a Caddy badge.

7th Volvo S80
6th BMW 530i
5th Audi A6 3.0
4th Chrysler 300
3rd Jag S-type
2nd Benz E 320

Oh geez, the American car magazine favors the American car what a surprise. Over all those others no less.

Clearly this is an unbiased review.

you don't read it much do you.
very rare for an american car to even be in the top three in their tests.

Although the reviews were thorough, I'm not sure I'd place must leverage on their decision factors. It seems the biggest factor for them was speed.

And they all agreed the S-Type was the best looking? Fucking L - O - L
That alone should negate any rating they give these cars. :olo:

bitWISE, check out the Audi A4 2.0T. Buy one with an S-Line package, chip it, and never look back.

Whoa, don't get me wrong I love Bimmers and drove an M3 for a while but, I'm talkin' "seat of the pants" feel. One other thing, parts and service for German machinery will kill ya money wise.

George Dubbya has his sights set on making the UK his 51st state, and US car makers are taking his plans to heart by bringing their cars over here in increasing numbers.

Prime among these is Cadillac, which has a name most British buyers will know, if not understand. Many still think of 1970s barges with suspension that boings and have interiors reminiscent of a Brooklyn bordello.

The CTS is Caddy's attempt to educate us and take on the European competition. First signs are good, because the CTS is the size of a BMW 5-Series but priced more like a 3-Series.

lol, this guy sounds like he is taking it personal that Americans would dare try to import a car to Europe. What a sad way to start a review.
