If I had the choice between buying CoD4 or CoD: World at War, which one should I get? I haven't played either one before.

i'd also vote for COD4. i love the maps in World at War, but overall COD4 is a better multiplayer experience.

I vote CoD 4 for a better multiplayer. You actually hit what you're aiming at in CoD 4 -_-
The maps are cooler in WaW though. For added fun, try out /r_sizecull 1 on mp_cliffside
I don't know what the hell Treyarch did but they've introduced a shit ton of bugs in to the game. And some multiplayer maps have holes in them that looks like somebody forgot to texture the area or something.
