This looks like a mind-numbing shit pile of 90's-style FPS from a company that still hasn't figured out that the nerdery behind a game isn't what makes it fun.

And Memph, I hadn't thought about the enemies not reacting to bullets being drilled into them. That's a fairly basic aspect that shouldn't be overlooked. This game could go either way at this point. But I'm starting to have my doubts...
Lookit all the prima donna fagg0ts in this thread. Twenty bucks says some of you women bitch and whine if the game isn't exactly as you like it, but you'll still buy it. And you'll whine about id Softare while finishing every bit of content in the game.

What *does* make games fun for you, and think is excluded from this game?

If it ends up anything like Doom 3 then yes, I'll be wrong. But watching more than 10 seconds of gameplay footage pretty much guarantees that it won't be like Doom 3, which was derivative, predictible and repetitive....but still intense. The videos I've seen of Rage have none of that (except it did look somewhat intense).
While anyone has good cause to bitch about Doom 3, I feel nobody has good cause to bash id for one bad game. Please list all the other games - besides Doom 3 - that id Software directly produced (in studio, not directing other studios creating their IP...like Wolfenstein, Quake 4, etc) that was a massive disappointment, and maybe I'll consider your point having merit.
Sorry, the new trailer looks dull as shit. Too many good games released this year to worry about some repetitive circle-strafe bollocks we've seen a million times before.
id haven't made a decent game in over 12 years. Quake 3 was the epitome of MP perfection so i'll always have a soft spot in my heart for them, but tech aside, they offer absolutely nothing new to the table.

Fagg0ts.
Weren't you the guy who said consumers should vote with their wallets to advocate industry change and stop the same bad decisions been made over and over again?
If people don't like what they see, they aint gonna buy it. Have you seen this? Dunno about the rest of you, but that end-of-year schedule has FAR more exciting games in the pipeline and i'm sure as shit not going to spend money on something I find dull, especially when you can wait a few weeks/months for something decent.

Fair enough. But I never said it'd be amazing simply by looking at some footage...I said it didn't look like Doom 3 by simply by looking at some footage.

Yes, I said that several times. But we both know that most of the people who bitch about Rage will buy it anyways, so what changes?
Besides, Rage is one of the few new IPs and not a sequel, so there's that...

hardly a new IP by definition. don't get mad I'm just saying. I don't feel like sitting here arguing the finer points of what should constitute a new IP. Just go back from camping (lol jealous Geoff?) so tired.
ps
weed brownies can actually stand on their awesome taste alone.

Uh, it's a new IP, by any definition. That isn't the problem. The fact it looks like a 1994 game masquerading under a slick engine is the issue, at least for me.
Pew pew pew! Derp derp derp! Jesus christ, bring on DX:HR already (eespecially now that highlighting is officially optional, yay!)
new ip shouldn't just be taking something old and calling it strawberry instead of kiwi. But you know i'll stop myself right there cause I haven't played the game yet. Hopefully there will be a demo.

Everything that made Deus Ex the greatest single-player FPS to ever grace a PC.
I will buy it and play it. And I won't form an opinion on the game until the end credits are rolling. I have the same sentiments as a lot of people here, that it looks like 1994 wrapped in a 2011 shrink wrap, but I still haven't decided if that's actually a bad thing. The people that say Rage's gameplay looks like crap have probably also been whining about Call of Duty being too scripted and linear.
