In a very direct, practical way I agree bin laden's death doesn't mean much. Plenty of guys lined up to take his place, etc.seremtan wrote:bin laden's death mean's very little, given how the world (but not his dwindling band of followers or those retards in washington) has moved on since 9/11
I *do* however think that the outfall caused by just the symbolism of taking down this icon shouldn't be underestimated;
On the "western front" the closing of ranks was pretty much immediately evident, with the flag waving and fuck-yeah-usa'ing.
And on the "eastern front", this action will probably cause a lot of frustration and indignation. Working as a catalyst for those already inclined to "take action".
("western front" and "eastern front" may be a bit simplistic, but at some point you've got to generalise and categorise to wrap your head around shit.)
Then there's the suspicion of Pakistan protecting bin laden's hide out (and Lieberman demanding Pakistan prove they didn't know; how the fuck do you prove you didn't know something?) and Obama electorally benefitting.
I'd say his death means a lot.seremtan wrote:bin laden's death mean's very little...
