meanwhile in other news: due to current trends in public debate, events which were confined to local coverage in the past now get national coverage, thereby seeming more significant than they really are

that's cute brian, and clearly i've rustled your jimmies, but did you actually read the link you posted?
Five people were wounded when firearms accidentally went off at gun shows across the United States on Saturday.
i.e. out of the no doubt hundreds (or possibly thousands) of gun shows going on that day in America, a grand total of five people were injured out of the god knows how many people attended "across the United States". the guy who wrote that piece literally had to dredge through a metric fuckton of local news networks and new sites to pull it together

or do you only object to journalistic retardation and spin when it's the other side doing it?

I found it funny not significant. I didn't realize that disqualified it from being posted here.

That is now a lead story on the Huffington Post front page.

Imagine that.

The Huffington Post is the exact type of news aggregate site that would put together all of those gun-related accidents that, thankfully, didn't get anyone killed. Where else would you expect to find these collections, Fox News?

And I agree that reporting the events is more of a punchline than anything else, but I think it's useful to remember that a gun-saturated culture has more gun violence than just monthly mow-downs from nutbags unloading automatics in a crowded place. The NRA has won for so long because they're banking on people not having the energy to shout them down. I realize the lefty types are generally lazy and therefore have allowed the nutters to control the conversation, but enough with the bullshit already because the smart move is to keep up the public pressure and point it out the insanity every chance you get.

Quit whining that someone is merely pointing out that stupid shit is happening daily in the supposed "safest places on Earth"...."gun-full" zones. Next you ADHD morons will getting annoyed and saying "old" whenever more news of Sandy Hook comes out. :dork:

I'm simply a guy suffering from a hangover telling a dumb yank that his country is fucked and will stay fucked if the problem keeps getting ignored. This is comedy to me.

I think we should do something. But not your something. The real comedy is watching you get so worked up over something you can't control.

Could you kindly provide any of those statistics? If so, could you explain why it did work in other counties that have banned assault rifles (such as Australia)?

Why don't you Google gun deaths in the US where there are strict gun laws?
