God this is so shit. Every episode is the same: nothing happens for 50 minutes, then in the final five minutes, the pace and intensity ratchets up, then immediately dies again in the next episode.
If the books didn't exist, this would've never made it past the pilot.

Yet here you are, mid way through season 5 ;p
This hasn't been a great series though, I was hoping something big would've happaned by now.
What's Arya upto ?, what's going on with Bran ?, Stannis has been "i'm gonna do it" since the 1st series (and still nowhere near), Dragon ladys still fucking about doing a lot of nothing whilst having domestics, Sansa is the Boltons new play thing which is a massive change from the Lannisters

- especially considering they beefed up Ramseys storyline to be the twat everyone wants dead after Joffs death and Jon Snow once again fucks off beyond the wall. The most interesting thing so far is Carsei and co getting locked up and I doubt that will have any resolution anytime soon.
There seems to be lots of story threads that are less than spectacular but no big thread that progresses the main story.

If you'd read the books you'd realize the story falls apart not even halfway through Feast For Crows. The rest of Bran's story arc hasn't even been written yet. The series has been much more interesting so far.

Yea ?, cos I thought it could be HBO trying to drag out the series.
In the previous seasons they seemed to build toward something that affected all of Westeros - Blackwater / Red Wedding / Who killed Joff / The rise of dragon lady / Lysas death / Tywins death and smaller things like Robert Baratheons bastard etc. The most important part in this series could be Stannis winning or losing the north (Blackwater 2 build up again), Snow uniting the Wildlings against winter which is still coming (yawn) or something with Carsei / Tyrell being locked up and leaving her idiot son / husband run the show.
What you're saying is that it's now shifting towards a focus on the individual characters story archs instead ?, If that's the case then the entire show can end up going in circles ?

That's how the chapters in the books are, they're even labeled by character name. Many of the story arcs don't seem to be connected at all, almost like the Fellowship of the Ring after everyone split up except with 10 times the characters and no common goal to work towards. HBO is actually running out of material because fatty worries more about describing the veiny throbbing cocks of every man in Westeros instead of writing a cohesive story.
Thankfully the writers on the show are competent.

Yea I realised I don't really care what happens to the remaining characters anymore. Tried to endure it for two extra episodes but alas. Done watching.

This is another issue: I have no fucking idea how, or what you're talking about, despite having watched every episode. The show makes a terrible effort in actually getting you to learn the character names.

To be fair to the show writers, they've done an excellent job of consolidating a lot of bullshit storylines and characters into a tighter set of core ones. Books 4 and 5 felt pretty flabby and that Martin was adding too many extraneous characters. The show's stayed away from doing that.
However, I still get the feeling that they haven't got a fucking clue where to go next with a lot of characters. Not surprising as now Bran, Sansa and Tyrion are completely caught up with their published storylines.
Doesn't stop this series being boring as shit though.

The TV show is suffering from the exact same problem as books 4 and 5: too much bullshit leading nowhere. I hope that once we get past that, and the show writers get beyond book 5, they get more freedom to make the story tighter and more condensed.

As far as I know, a single (completely misguided) feminist website said they'd no longer write about GoT because of this scene. A bunch of sites reported about this and now the rest of the Internet writes about how there's mass hysteria over this scene. I haven't seen proof there actually is.

As for that Sansa scene, here's part of an interview with Sophie Turner (who plays Sansa) about that scene:
And then there is the scene described in the production breakdown as “romance dies.” Sansa’s wedding night in episode 6.
When I read that scene, I kinda loved it. I love the way Ramsay had Theon watching. It was all so messed up. It’s also so daunting for me to do it. I’ve been making [producer Bryan Cogman] feel so bad for writing that scene: “I can’t believe you’re doing this to me!” But I secretly loved it.
There you have it. She loved the scene. Now everyone else should just kindly fuck off.

Yeah kind of like the "meninist" losers people made a big deal about for Mad Max. Then it turned out it was one guy who didn't even watch the movie but just made everything up from watching the trailers. This is why I hate the internet.

That last episode was awesome.
It's kind of ironic how that mom wildling was 10 times the tough woman the TV show sand snakes will ever be.

Yeah, that was a good episode. Do they have different writers for certain episodes or something? Because this seems too hit and miss for there to be a single constant set of writers
