it's prolly not far from the truth. From what I understand, these systems are prolly dynamicly generated by some predetermined universal laws /rules , with added controlled randomization.... now depending on the amount of variables they allowed in this 'formula', and the complexity of said calculations, the end result can wildly vary from completely derivative garbage, to something potentially noteworhy. I guess you'll have to wait on some real reviews to determine which is true.

What you said is also true about our own universe. Which is really cool. But will it make for a great game? Again, you're right, we'll just have to wait and see...

Would be boring to run into planet after planet that's basically desolate with nothing to do.

that actually looks good procedural generation could work well provided there are sufficient assets in the game to allow for variation

It's great to see a developer say something along the lines of "we put this incredibly fun looking mechanic in here because... hey, why not".

on my 'most anticipated' list. JC2 gave me over a hunders hours worth of fun.

I downloaded Just Cause 2 through Xbox Games with Gold, but it didn't immediately grabbed me and kept a hold on my interest.

A lot of people are really enthusiastic about this game though, so I might give it another go sometime later, but usually that means I'll never play it again...

Seriously: Most of us played the classic final fantasy battle system to death. JRPGS are defined by their battle system. It's time for square to move on and innovate.
