I just saw Satch live a few weeks ago, my god, what a fucking show. The fact that I dropped 2 slips of LSD beforehand may or may not have affected my perception of the awesome factor of it, but either way, good fuckin' shit.

Listening to Ray Montford right now... if you like audiophile quality muzak, give this guy a listen, there's shit on youtube, I can't be fucked to embed anything and I'd bet dollars to donuts that no one even listens to shit in this thread anyhow.

He is absolutely amazing live. I've seen him 3 or 4 times live now and each and every show was pure sex.
A much heard complaint is that with his live shows, the audience are all hyper-critical guitar players who are too busy criticizing every move of his fingers making it boring, but I've never actually experienced it this way. People are really, really enthusiastic.

Oi, that was the 2nd time I've seen him. I think what a lot of wankers don't realize is that Satriani improvises about 90% of his playing and really only touches briefly on strong melodic ideas and hooks to make the song recognizable to fans. Both times I saw him, he played Ice 9, and it was vastly different both times, and both of them were different than the album version. He still played the really recognizable and strong melodic hooks and parts of the solos so that you knew what the fuck song he was playing. I wouldn't even care either way, I'd pay just to see him play anything for 2 hours. I would consider myself a half-way decent guitar player, and of the songs that I recognized (at the time, I hadn't heard his latest two albums so quite a few tracks were brand new to me), I noticed one single mistake. I saw him shake his head a bit too, a big no-no for live performers! I was surprised that he did that. But, out of probably a million notes, one missed one isn't all bad!

Thanks for the Cat. I miss his music. His "Foreigner Suite" album was a constant when I was in college. I am off to iTunes.

Yes, heard Carly Simon the other day and been searching. Never a fan at the time but I now appreciate the tone  Beautiful :tear:

A truer (?) rendition.
